In Olive Hill, the Christmas season doesn’t officially begin when the lights go up or the trees go out — it begins when the community comes together. And right now, the folks behind Christmas at the Depot are putting out the call for anyone with a little holiday spirit to spare.
This beloved annual tradition is one of the most generous events in our region — a completely free, family-friendly, outdoor celebration built entirely by volunteers. And this year, they’re hoping even more helping hands will step forward to make the magic happen.
Organizers say they’ll be handing out just about everything that makes the season warm and bright: hot chocolate, coffee, toys, blankets, coats, hats, gloves, baked goods, candies, hot dogs, s’mores, popcorn… and the list keeps going. Local groups set up, serve, greet, and give — and every bit of it is free to anyone who attends.
And of course, Santa himself will be rolling into town, ready to hand out a special gift to every child 13 and under. No lines at the mall, no ticket prices, just genuine small-town Christmas joy.

Today is the day that the first of two KY-Moms Healthy Baby Workshops will be help virtually thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Carter County Health Department, Pathways, and the KY-Moms Program.
Today’s online session is especially for women who are pregnant or within 60 days postpartum and who have not yet attended a KY-Moms Healthy Baby Workshop, and will be offering support for navigating pregnancy and those early weeks with a newborn.
Participants will receive a $50 gift card, along with access to resources designed to empower new moms — from health information and parenting tips to community contacts and services many families didn’t even know were available.
The second scheduled virtual offering is set for next week on the date of December 17th.

Cinema Camp Landing is calling on the community to “Do Some Wicked Good” this holiday season by joining a special partnership with Hope’s Place Child Advocacy Center to help provide Christmas gifts for children throughout the region.
Beginning immediately, guests visiting Cinema Camp Landing can select an ornament tag from the lobby’s holiday display – each tag represents a local child served by Hope’s Place. Supporters are invited to shop for the items listed on the tag and return gifts to the cinema no later than December 12.
Hope’s Place Child Advocacy Center provides services and support to children who have experienced abuse or trauma, helping ensure their safety, healing, and well-being. Donations from this holiday initiative help bring comfort, normalcy, and joy to these children during the Christmas season.
Community members can participate by visiting Cinema Camp Landing, selecting a tag, and returning unwrapped gifts with the tag attached. All items will be delivered directly to Hope’s Place for distribution to local families.
