City of Grayson officials say new “Stop for School Bus” signs have been installed on both sides of Main Street to remind drivers of the law when school buses are picking up or dropping off students.
City leaders are emphasizing that drivers are required to stop when a school bus has its stop arm extended and lights flashing. Failing to do so is considered a criminal offense and can rise to the level of reckless driving, which may result in an arrest.
Officials also note that violations can lead to increased insurance rates, along with court costs and additional penalties.
The goal of the new signage is to increase awareness and encourage drivers to slow down and follow the law, helping keep students safe during busy travel times.
City officials are reminding motorists to stay alert and use extra caution when traveling along Main Street, especially during school hours.

A familiar name in Carter County dining is preparing for a new chapter, as one local restaurant gets ready to transition under new ownership.
Bayso’s will serve its final day on Saturday, April 18th, before closing temporarily for renovations. The restaurant will then reopen in early May under a new name, Daley’s, with new ownership and a refreshed vision for the space.
The new owner says the change is a labor of love and a family effort, with the new name reflecting a combination of family names. While the restaurant will see updates, they say they’ve always appreciated what Bayso’s brought to the community and plan to build on that atmosphere moving forward.
Plans for Daley’s include a menu that keeps many familiar favorites while adding new twists, along with expanded lunch and drink specials and additional dessert options. The goal is to create a place where people can still stop in for a meal or a drink, while also offering something new for returning customers.
The owner also says they hope to make the restaurant an active part of the community, with plans to partner with local organizations, participate in chamber events, and host regular live music. That could include acoustic performances and monthly community jam nights, giving local musicians a place to gather and perform.
Renovations are expected to take a few weeks, with the restaurant aiming to reopen by the first weekend of May, although a grand opening date has not yet been announced.
Again, Bayso’s will close after April 18th for renovations, and the restaurant is expected to reopen in early May as Daley’s, bringing a new look and a renewed focus on community connection.

Today marks the final opportunity this week for residents in Western Carter County to take advantage of the county-wide clean-up campaign, as dumpsters will be available at the Carter County Maintenance Garage along US 60 until 2:30 p.m. The Solid Waste Department reminds all participants that dumpster access has now returned to its regular three-day weekly schedule and urges the public to follow the updated disposal guidelines.
A number of items will not be accepted, including refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, and batteries. In addition, all items must be either bagged or boxed — loose trash will not be collected.
The Carter County Clean-Up campaign operates on a rotating schedule, providing disposal opportunities for both the eastern and western ends of the county. After today’s event, dumpsters will return to the maintenance garage in Grayson from April 15th through 17th.
