The Carter County Health Department is gearing up to host another KY-Moms’ Virtual Healthy Baby Workshop. This one is scheduled for the date of Tuesday, April 29th from 11am until 1pm. The KY-Mom’s Healthy Baby Workshops are for those who are pregnant and up to 60 days postpartum who reside in Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, Lawrence, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, and Rowan Counties. Please note that if you have attended one of these workshop previously then you will not be eligible to attend the April 29th meeting.
All participants who complete the upcoming workshop will receive a $25 Walmart gift card. This weekend will see a very special event hosted by your friends from the Olive Hill Center for Arts and Heritage as they once again bring their annual tea party to life. Those interested in attending will be greeted by an afternoon of elegance, delightful conversations, and of course some delicious tea. The East Carter Raider Football program will be hosting a special Easter celebration with the Egg My Yard Fundraiser set for April 19th. Spots are available and if you’re interested then you’re being advised to reserve your pre-filled eggs to be hidden in your yard the night before Easter. The event even includes a special note from the Easter Bunny himself. The Egg My Yard fundraiser is a great way to make your Easter celebration extra special. It carries a price point of $40 for 50 eggs to be placed or $60 for that to double to 100 eggs.

April is all set as the annual National Poetry Month and your own Carter County Poetry Society will be celebrating by hosting a special Community Reading in partnership with the Young Library on the campus of Kentucky Christian University. This event will be held on Saturday, April 12th beginning at 12 noon and running through 3pm.
The entire community is invited to attend, listen, and share their own works – but anyone wanting to get involved is reminded that all pieces should be family friendly.

Team Kentucky is getting ready to present a special Superheroes for Kids camp in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month in April. The northeastern service region will hold the event on the date of Friday, April 18th from 4:30 until 7pm at the Grayson Sports Park located at 596 Robert & Mary Street – the event will see free food, prizes and toys, plenty of games, an egg hunt, and even community partners all set up for everyone to enjoy.
Admission to the event will be free and everyone is welcome to come out and participate in this special Superheroes for Kids camp in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month.

Today will see dumpster availability open to the West end of the county at the Maintenance Garage located along US 60. Dumpsters will be open today between the hours of 8am and 2:30pm. Please remember that beginning this week the dumpster availability will be limited to two days per week.
The County Clean-Up has now extended their list of non-accepted items to include: refrigerators, deep freezers, or televisions that’s along with household garbage, paint, tires, and batteries – please note that none of these items will be collected. All garbage must also be bagged or boxed with no loose items being collected. The campaign is offered by the Carter County Solid Waste Department, and sees dumpsters made available at the county maintenance garages for community use.
The county clean-up campaign works on a rotating schedule and offers opportunities for both Eastern and Western Carter County. Following their stay today they will be returning to the East end of the county Wednesday through Friday next week that’s the dates of April 16th through the 18th.
