Valentine’s Day is usually about showing love for the people closest to us, but this year, residents are being invited to show a little love for their community as well.
The Olive Hill Trail Town organization is hosting a Trail Town meeting on Saturday, February 14th, beginning at 9:00 Saturday morning. The meeting will take place at American Legion Post 138 in Olive Hill.
Organizers say the goal is to continue building momentum around the Trail Town initiative, which focuses on improving the community by celebrating and utilizing the area’s natural beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities, and trail systems.
Community members are encouraged to come learn more about ongoing projects, share ideas, and find ways to get involved as Olive Hill continues working toward a stronger, more vibrant future.
The meeting is open to the public, and volunteers are welcome, whether you’re already involved with Trail Town efforts or simply curious about what’s happening and how you can help.

PrimaryPlus Pharmacies are once again encouraging residents to safely clean out their medicine cabinets with the return of Take Back Tuesdays, a series of drug and sharps collection events happening across the region.
The first Take Back Tuesday will be held on Tuesday, February 24th, with collection available from 9 a.m. to noon at PrimaryPlus in Maysville on Tucker Drive, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at PrimaryPlus in Tollesboro.
During these events, pharmacy staff will accept unwanted or expired medications, along with used diabetic supplies, for proper and safe disposal. Officials say this helps prevent accidental poisoning, misuse, and environmental contamination.
Residents are reminded that sharps must be brought in a sealed plastic container, and that loose needles or lancets will not be accepted.
Additional Take Back Tuesday events will continue throughout late February and March at various PrimaryPlus locations, including stops in Bracken County, Grayson, Ashland, South Shore, Vanceburg, Morehead, and Flemingsburg. All events will take place on Tuesdays, with morning and afternoon collection times.
Organizers say Take Back Tuesdays offer a safe, convenient way for patients to dispose of medications they no longer need — at no cost.

Today marks the final opportunity this week for residents in Western Carter County to take advantage of the county-wide clean-up campaign, as dumpsters will be available at the Carter County Maintenance Garage in Grayson until 2:30 p.m. The Solid Waste Department reminds all participants that dumpster access has now returned to its regular three-day weekly schedule and urges the public to follow the updated disposal guidelines. Please note that due to having to play catch-up since the last few week’s collections have been postponed all participants will be limited to a single load per day.
A number of items will not be accepted, including refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, and batteries. In addition, all items must be either bagged or boxed — loose trash will not be collected.
The Carter County Clean-Up campaign operates on a rotating schedule, providing disposal opportunities for both the eastern and western ends of the county. After today’s event, dumpsters will return to the maintenance garage on US 60 from February 18th through the 20th..
