The Grayson Free Will Baptist Church will be hosting a January Food Giveaway today and again tomorrow, Saturday, January 10th. Hours are set for 11am until 1pm for today with doors being open on Saturday from 10 o’clock until 12 noon. Organizers note that the date was adjusted due to a warehouse closure, so anyone who usually attends is encouraged to mark their calendars for this updated time.
The giveaway will be set up as a drive-through event, and participants are asked to stay in their vehicles during distribution. Organizers also ask that folks do not park at the church next door, and to help things move smoothly, attendees are encouraged to bring totes, boxes, or containers to carry food items.
Church leaders say this outreach is all about helping neighbors and making sure families have access to food during the colder winter months. Everyone is welcome, and if you have a need, you’re encouraged to come — no one should feel hesitant to ask for help.

Today marks the final opportunity this week for residents in Eastern Carter County to take advantage of the county-wide clean-up campaign, as dumpsters will be available at the Carter County Maintenance Garage in Grayson until 2:30 p.m. The Solid Waste Department reminds all participants that dumpster access has now returned to its regular three-day weekly schedule and urges the public to follow the updated disposal guidelines.
A number of items will not be accepted, including refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, and batteries. In addition, all items must be either bagged or boxed — loose trash will not be collected.
The Carter County Clean-Up campaign operates on a rotating schedule, providing disposal opportunities for both the eastern and western ends of the county. After today’s event, dumpsters will return to the maintenance garage on US 60 from December 17th through the 19th.
