The Grayson Gallery and Art Center is inviting the community out for an evening filled with art, music, creativity, and celebration as they host a special closing reception for this year’s “Celebrate the Earth” exhibit this evening.
The event runs from 6 until 9 PM at the gallery, located at 301 East Third Street in Grayson, and organizers say it will be much more than just an art show. More than 75 original works from artists across the region will still be on display, all inspired by the beauty of the world around us and the spirit of Earth Day.
The evening will also celebrate a major milestone for the Grayson Gallery and Art Center as the organization marks 15 years of bringing art, culture, and creativity to the community.
Visitors will also have the chance to enjoy a special showcase featuring artwork created through the gallery’s “Arts for All Kentucky” grant project, including pieces by artists from Carter County Special Olympics.
Live entertainment throughout the night will be provided by the Tri-State Rock Academy, featuring talented young performers from across the region. Organizers say audience members can even expect a few surprise appearances from legendary music icons portrayed by the students between performances.
Midway through the evening, the gallery will hold a special announcements and awards ceremony, including the presentation of the People’s Choice Award, where guests in attendance will help select a winning artist.
Refreshments will also be available during the event, and while admission is free, donations to support the non-profit gallery and tips for the musicians are welcomed.
Organizers say the evening is designed to celebrate local talent, community creativity, and the growing arts scene here in Eastern Kentucky while giving residents a fun and welcoming place to gather together.

Today marks the final opportunity this week for residents in Eastern Carter County to take advantage of the county-wide clean-up campaign, as dumpsters will be available at the Carter County Maintenance Garage in Grayson until 2:30 p.m. The Solid Waste Department reminds all participants that dumpster access has now returned to its regular three-day weekly schedule and urges the public to follow the updated disposal guidelines.
A number of items will not be accepted, including refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, and batteries. In addition, all items must be either bagged or boxed — loose trash will not be collected.
The Carter County Clean-Up campaign operates on a rotating schedule, providing disposal opportunities for both the eastern and western ends of the county. After today’s event, dumpsters will return to the maintenance garage on US 60 from June 3rd through the 5th.
