The holidays are on their way, and this year the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce is giving you a reason to feel even better about shopping close to home.
Introducing the Mistletoe Market, a brand-new holiday promotion that rewards you just for supporting our local businesses. Every time you shop at a participating Chamber member store, you’ll get a Mistletoe Market card — and for every $10 you spend, your card gets a punch. Fill your card with ten punches, and you’re entered to win!
Each week between November 24th and December 15th, one lucky shopper will take home a $50 Shop Local Gift Card — and just before Christmas, one name will be drawn for the grand prize of $500 in Shop Local Gift Cards!
It’s simple: you shop — they punch — you could win.
And for our local Chamber businesses, now’s the time to get involved. The Chamber will provide everything you need — punch cards, tools, entry boxes, window signs, and instructions — all ready to help bring customers through your doors this holiday season.

The season of giving is right around the corner — and that means it’s time once again for Project Merry Christmas, a community tradition that helps local families make the holidays a little brighter.
This year, there are important changes to note! Applications will be taken at different locations across the county, and the Project Merry Christmas board will be on-site to help.
In Grayson, you’ll find them at the First Church of Christ Gymnasium at 3rd and Pomeroy Street.
In Olive Hill, they’ll be at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 365 East Tom T. Hall Boulevard.
Applications for assistance will be accepted on November 6th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 17th, and 21st from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and on November 20th from 4 to 7 p.m.
If you or someone you know needs a little extra help making Christmas special this year, this is your chance to reach out. Project Merry Christmas has been spreading joy and compassion throughout Carter County for decades — and once again, neighbors are coming together to make sure no child wakes up without a gift under the tree.

Today marks the final opportunity this week for residents in Western Carter County to take advantage of the county-wide clean-up campaign, as dumpsters will be available at the Carter County Maintenance Garage along US 60 until 2:30 p.m. The Solid Waste Department reminds all participants that dumpster access has now returned to its regular three-day weekly schedule and urges the public to follow the updated disposal guidelines.
A number of items will not be accepted, including refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, and batteries. In addition, all items must be either bagged or boxed — loose trash will not be collected.
The Carter County Clean-Up campaign operates on a rotating schedule, providing disposal opportunities for both the eastern and western ends of the county. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the Grayson maintenance garage from November 12th through the 14th.
This valuable community service is made possible by the Carter County Solid Waste Department, who continue to support these efforts to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful.
