It’s happening today in Olive Hill — the UK Cooperative Extension Service invites families with little ones to a Laugh and Learn Playdate! The fun runs from 10 until 11:30 this morning at the Olive Hill Church of Christ on State Highway 2078.
This special program is designed for children ages one through five, giving them a chance to play, create, and explore while families connect with one another. And here’s a bonus — each family attending today’s playdate will receive a free copy of the children’s book Apple Picking Day.

Good news for families in Carter County — the Willard First Church of Christ Food Pantry is opening its doors once again to serve our community. Their next free food giveaway is happening Saturday, September 20th, and it all begins bright and early at 8:00 a.m.
The food pantry has become a vital resource for many, offering groceries and essential items to help neighbors stretch their family budget and put meals on the table. Events like this aren’t just about food — they’re about community, care, and compassion. Volunteers from the church dedicate their time to make sure that anyone who needs a little extra help doesn’t go home empty-handed.
Whether you’ve visited the pantry before or it’s your first time, everyone is welcome to come out and take part. If you know someone who could use a helping hand, spread the word and encourage them to stop by.

Farmers in Carter County, listen up — if you’re interested in applying for the County Agricultural Incentives Program, or C.A.I.P., you’ll want to attend one of the upcoming informational meetings.
Two sessions are scheduled: Monday, September 29th at 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 5th at 10:00 a.m. Both will be held at 94 Fairground Drive in Grayson.
These meetings will walk you through the program and the application process. Remember — you must have a Carter County Farm Number to participate.

Today marks the final opportunity this week for residents in Eastern Carter County to take advantage of the county-wide clean-up campaign, as dumpsters will be available at the Carter County Maintenance Garage in Grayson until 2:30 p.m. The Solid Waste Department reminds all participants that dumpster access has now returned to its regular three-day weekly schedule and urges the public to follow the updated disposal guidelines.
A number of items will not be accepted, including refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, and batteries. In addition, all items must be either bagged or boxed — loose trash will not be collected.
The Carter County Clean-Up campaign operates on a rotating schedule, providing disposal opportunities for both the eastern and western ends of the county. After today’s event, dumpsters will return to the maintenance garage on US 60 from September 24th through the 26th.
This valuable community service is made possible by the Carter County Solid Waste Department, who continue to support these efforts to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful.
