Hope’s Place CAC is offering a valuable opportunity this summer for parents, educators, counselors, youth leaders, and community members who want to better understand the growing impact of social media on today’s world.
The organization will host a free Social Media Safety training program designed to help participants learn about the role social media plays in modern life, the risks that can be associated with online platforms, and practical ways to improve protection and prevention for children, teens, and families.
As social media continues to evolve and become a larger part of everyday life, many parents and caregivers find themselves facing new challenges when it comes to online safety. From cyberbullying and online predators to privacy concerns and digital wellbeing, experts say understanding these issues is one of the most important steps in helping young people navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
According to information provided by Hope’s Place CAC, the training will examine how social media is used in the present day, how various platforms can be used to increase risks for vulnerable individuals, and strategies for protection and prevention. The program is intended to provide participants with practical knowledge that can be applied at home, in schools, and throughout the community.
To make the training accessible to as many people as possible, two separate sessions are being offered. The first will take place on July 17th from 10:00 a.m. until noon. A second session will be held on July 28th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Participants may attend whichever session best fits their schedule.
Organizers say the training is free to register and is approved for Kentucky Licensed Professional Counselor continuing education credit as well as EILA credit, making it beneficial for professionals while also remaining accessible to the general public.

As county fair season gets underway across Kentucky, the Carter County Extension Office is encouraging residents to show their support for the young people whose hard work and dedication help make the fair a highlight of the summer.
County fairs are much more than rides and food. They also provide an opportunity for local 4-H members to showcase the projects, skills, and experiences they’ve developed throughout the year. From livestock exhibitions and horse shows to educational displays and creative projects, each exhibit represents months of learning, preparation, and commitment.
Extension officials say one of the best ways to encourage these young participants is simply by showing up. Community members are invited to attend competitions, congratulate exhibitors on their accomplishments, and take time to learn more about the projects on display.
