Carter County’s Family Resource Youth Service Centers are coming together to host a community wide baby shower in the month of March. On Thursday, March 20th between the hours of 10am and 1pm various agencies along with businesses will be on site and set up distributing helpful information to expecting mothers and their families. Free gifts will also be given out while supplies last, so make sure and be one of the first ones attending the shower. Refreshments will be provided.
The FRYSC baby shower will be held inside the Carter County Extension Office which is located at 94 Fairgrounds Drive in Grayson.

Over the last year the Grayson Freewill Baptist Church has been offering a monthly community food pantry event that helps them to serve their friends, family, and neighbors. Since March of 2024 when it all started the church has been able to distribute a staggering 685,151 pounds of food and products to families in need right here in Carter County. During this time church officials have said that they have seen hundreds of people turn out and have heard heart wrenching stories about how much the monthly pantries mean to some in our area.
Now they are happy to announce that the help is spreading as they officially announce the opening of their brand new food pantry and free grocery store which will see its first day in operation on Tuesday, March 18th. The store will be open between the hours of 2 and 4pm, and during this time it will be serving those age 65 and older, however the Grayson FWB Church is also planning on collaborating with our local schools, the DCBS, and even other churches to take referrals for families in need.
The aptly named Daily Bread Food Pantry is headed to the Grayson Freewill Baptist Church location at 1778 East Highway US 60 later in the month of March. Team Kentucky is getting ready to present a special Superheroes for Kids camp in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month in April. The northeastern service region will hold the event on the date of Friday, April 18th from 4:30 until 7pm at the Grayson Sports Park located at 596 Robert & Mary Street – the event will see free food, prizes and toys, plenty of games, an egg hunt, and even community partners all set up for everyone to enjoy.
Admission to the event will be free and everyone is welcome to come out and participate in this special Superheroes for Kids camp in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month.

It’s that time of year when the Carter County Soil and Conservation District conduct their annual tree giveaway for 2025. This year’s event has been scheduled for Friday, April 25th and will take place at the Carter County Farmers Market Shed. Trees will be given out on a first come first served basis and all individuals that come out to participate in the event will be given 10 seedlings of their choosing.
Seedlings available for the 2025 event include: flowering dogwood, paw paw, persimmon, Kentucky coffeetree, chestnut oak, wild plum, white oak, and red Shumard oak. Please note that this event is open for Carter County citizens only.
