While the Utilities Commission flushes the hydrants in your area it may cause discoloration in your water or low water pressure, you are assured that this is a normal occurrence during the flushing.
As always your local Grayson Utilities Commission apologizes for any inconvenience that the flushing may cause when it is active in your area, and warns residents that care should be taken when they are washing laundry during the active flushing in their area.

Some Carter County residents may have recently received a notice in the mail about a change in their property assessment. According to the Property Valuation Administrator’s (PVA) Office, this year’s reassessments cover tax maps 043 through 080—part of a routine cycle that divides the county into four zones, with one reviewed each year.
The reassessments are required by the state to reflect 100% fair market value. If you’ve received a notice and believe your property’s assessed value is too high, now is the time to speak up.
Property owners who believe their value is inaccurate are encouraged to bring any documentation they may have—such as appraisals or insurance estimates—and meet with the PVA Office to discuss possible adjustments. Once values are finalized later this year, no further changes can be made.

The Bruin Volunteer Fire Department has officially launched a fundraiser to assist them in building a new station. They are now making strides toward their long-term vision of a fully operational station, and they’re calling on the community to help bring it across the finish line.
After years of hard work, the department has secured the essential pieces – including trucks, equipment, and a team of dedicated volunteer firefighters – but what’s missing is the facility itself. To tackle this final and most expensive step, the department has launched a community-based fundraising campaign. Their goal? To gather support from 200 donors, each contributing at least $175. In return, each supporter — whether an individual, business, church, or organization — will have their name permanently honored on a Supporters Plaque inside the new station.
There are two donation tiers: Supporter – for a $175 donation that will include a name listed on the plaque, and Major Supporter – for a $350 or higher donation. The higher Major tier includes both the name listed on the plaque along with a special recognition. Donations can be dropped off during business hours at Healthy Way Pharmacy, located on RT. 7 Main St, Sandy Hook, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please place your donation in a sealed envelope including the following information: name or names to be listed on the plaque, contact phone number, and the amount donated.

If you live in a household that is at or below 150% of the nation’s federal poverty guidelines then you are eligible to apply for the 2025 Spring Electric Cooling Subsidy Program.
