In celebration of this year’s Grayson Memory Days and our “Walk Down Memory Lane”, Bit O’ Time Treasures, located at 136 East Main Street, is partnering with organizers to host a special community memorabilia display throughout the summer holidays.
Residents are invited to contribute any pieces of Grayson’s local history or personal memorabilia they’d like to share with the community. The display will run from May 1 through July 15, with all items being safely returned to their rightful owners by the end of July.
Contributors are encouraged to clearly mark all items before dropping them off at the shop. For those looking to share photographs, Bit O’ Time Treasures is also offering to print submitted pictures — just send them a message and they’ll take care of the rest.
This unique exhibit is a chance to celebrate Grayson’s past and share cherished memories with neighbors and visitors alike. Those interested in participating are encouraged to stop by the shop soon or message them directly to make arrangements.

If you’re the parent or guardian of a student attending East Carter Middle School or East Carter High School during the 2025–2026 school year, you now have the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the future of your child’s education.
Both schools are currently accepting nominations for parent representatives to serve on their respective Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Councils for the upcoming 2024–2025 academic year.
Nominations will be accepted through Friday, May 2, and selected parent members will be expected to complete summer training and attend monthly meetings throughout their term.

Kentucky residents recovering from the severe April storms are being warned by FEMA to stay alert for potential fraud. Scammers may attempt to steal personal information or file false disaster claims in your name.
If a FEMA inspector shows up at your home and you haven’t applied for assistance, it could mean your information was used without your knowledge. In that case, notify the inspector and call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 to stop any fraudulent claims and begin a new one if needed.
FEMA reminds everyone that official representatives will carry photo ID badges, and they never charge for inspections or assistance. Never give out banking details or pay for promises of aid.
If you suspect fraud, report it to local law enforcement or the Kentucky Attorney General’s office at 502-696-5485. You can also email FEMA directly at StopFEMAFraud@fema.dhs.gov.
Residents of several counties—including Anderson, Butler, Franklin, Hopkins, and others—can apply for federal disaster assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling the FEMA Helpline, or by visiting a Disaster Recovery Center.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program – known simply as LIHEAP – is back once again to help with cooling costs now that the temperature is beginning to rise. If you live in a household that is at or below 150% of the nation’s federal poverty guidelines then you are eligible to apply for the 2025 Spring Electric Cooling Subsidy Program.
No disconnection notice or past due billing statement is required, and any previous assistance does not affect your eligibility for this onetime payment assistance. For a more in depth look at the information for the 2025 Spring Electric Cooling Subsidy Program then you can log on to capky.org.
To apply you can pay your local Community Action Agency a visit – find your nearest location by calling 1-800-456-3452 or visit capky.org/network. The deadline to apply for the summer portion of LIHEAP is set for Friday, May 30th. All funds will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.
