There’s a special kind of magic that comes from creating something with your own hands — and this December, Carter County 4-H is inviting the community to do just that, all while supporting a great cause.
On Tuesday, December 2nd, from 5 to 7 PM, the Carter County 4-H program will host a Christmas Tree Barn Quilt Fundraiser at the Extension Office on Fairground Drive in Grayson. For $60, participants will get the chance to paint their very own 4-foot by 1-foot Christmas tree barn quilt, a festive piece of artwork perfect for holiday decorating or gifting.
Those wanting to take part are asked to RSVP and pay by November 19th, and spots tend to fill quickly — so early sign-ups are encouraged.
And this isn’t just an evening of creativity. Every dollar raised goes directly to the Carter County 4-H Scholarship Fund, helping local youth attend overnight camps and special 4-H events that build leadership, confidence, and lifelong memories.

Today is the final of two dates that artwork can be dropped off for the upcoming Final Friday event at the Grayson Gallery and Art Center. The gallery’s last event of the year will be an open-to-all art show and sale, and every kind of artist is invited to take part. Painters, sculptors, photographers — if you create, this show has a spot for you. Any subject, any medium, up to three pieces per artist, all ready to hang or display.
And the best part? There’s no entry fee. The gallery simply takes a small 20% commission on any pieces sold.
Artwork can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the gallery location today.
Then, the fun really begins on Friday, November 28th — that’s the evening after Thanksgiving — during the community’s Final Fridays Art Walk. The free opening reception runs from 6 to 9 p.m., with cash awards of $50 each handed out around 7:45. Those prizes include the Board Choice Award, the Brandon Click Art Memorial, People’s Choice by popular vote, and even one from “The Pen Lady.”
