All of the fair fun for Thursday is brought to you by Members Choice Credit Union, and it’s packed with both action and flavor. Please remember that once again there will be a $15 admission for the evening but that once price gets you full access to carnival rides. Gates for the evening open up at 6 pm. Enjoy the petting zoo from 5:30 to 9 pm and stop by the Exhibit Hall between 6 and 8 pm to take in local talent in arts, crafts, and more.
At 7 pm, FTC Pro Wrestling brings the energy and drama to the ring, while motocross fans can once again catch the Tri-State MX Motocross in the Motor Arena — practice starts at 6, show starts at 7.
Then cool off with a sweet treat: the Ice Cream Eating Contest hits the Midway Stage at 8 pm. Sign up at the fairgrounds and bring your best brain freeze face.

Help is available to keep the cool air flowing this summer with the summer heat cranking up, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program—better known as LIHEAP—is once again stepping in to help Kentucky residents stay safe and cool.
The LIHEAP Summer Subsidy Program kicks off July 28 and runs through September 12, 2025, offering one-time electric bill assistance to income-eligible households. This benefit doesn’t require a past-due or disconnect notice and can be applied as a credit to your utility account.
To qualify, you must be responsible for your home’s electric costs and fall within the program’s income guidelines. For example, a family of four can earn up to $4,019 a month and still be eligible.
When applying, bring: Social Security cards or Permanent Resident Cards for each household member, proof of all income for the previous month, and your most recent electric bill or a statement from your landlord if utilities are included in rent.
You can apply at your local Community Action Agency—there’s one in every nearby county, including at 539 Hitchins Avenue in Olive Hill. Boyd, Elliott, Greenup, and Lawrence counties are also taking applications.

East Carter fans — it’s almost time to kick off the season in style and you’re invited to the First Down Dinner on Saturday, August 16th from 6 to 8 PM at the First Baptist Church Life Center.
This special evening will honor Raider football alumni and introduce this year’s players, with Coach Garry McPeek as the special guest speaker. It’s a great night for fans, families, and the whole East Carter community to rally together before the season begins.
