PrimaryPlus Pharmacies are once again encouraging residents to safely clean out their medicine cabinets with the return of Take Back Tuesdays, a series of drug and sharps collection events happening across the region.
The first Take Back Tuesday will be held on Tuesday, February 24th, with collection available from 9 a.m. to noon at PrimaryPlus in Maysville on Tucker Drive, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at PrimaryPlus in Tollesboro.
During these events, pharmacy staff will accept unwanted or expired medications, along with used diabetic supplies, for proper and safe disposal. Officials say this helps prevent accidental poisoning, misuse, and environmental contamination.
Residents are reminded that sharps must be brought in a sealed plastic container, and that loose needles or lancets will not be accepted.
Additional Take Back Tuesday events will continue throughout late February and March at various PrimaryPlus locations, including stops in Bracken County, Grayson, Ashland, South Shore, Vanceburg, Morehead, and Flemingsburg. All events will take place on Tuesdays, with morning and afternoon collection times.
Organizers say Take Back Tuesdays offer a safe, convenient way for patients to dispose of medications they no longer need — at no cost.

Parents of Carter County students in grades seven through twelve are being asked to take a few moments to return an important consent form connected to the Pathfinder student survey.
School officials say returning the form is important even if you choose not to allow your child to participate. Every response helps give the community a clearer picture of student needs across Carter County.
The Pathfinder survey itself is completely anonymous. No student names are collected, and all results are grouped together. That information is then used to help guide future decisions that impact local students and families.
According to school leaders, the data gathered from the survey plays a key role in expanding after-school and summer programs, growing STEM and career pathways like the 1ST2FLY aviation initiative, and improving access to arts, recreation, and outdoor opportunities. It also helps community partners better support students’ overall quality of life.
Officials stress that the more forms that are returned, the better the data — and ultimately, the better the outcomes for kids across the county.
Parents of students at East Carter Middle School and West Carter Middle School can find the consent forms online through the Carter County Schools website. Links are available directly through each school’s page, making it quick and easy to review and respond.
Again, parents are encouraged to return the Pathfinder survey consent form, regardless of their decision, to help ensure future programs and opportunities are built around the real needs of Carter County students.

The Carter County Health Department is helping support new and expecting mothers with an upcoming virtual Healthy Mom and Baby Workshop, offered through the KY-MOMS program.
This free online workshop is designed for those who are currently pregnant or up to 12 months postpartum, and is open to eligible participants across several area counties, including Carter, Boyd, Greenup, Elliott, Bath, Lawrence, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, and Rowan counties.
To make it easy to fit into busy schedules, the workshop is being offered on two different dates. Participants can choose from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, February 21st from 10 a.m. until noon, or Wednesday, February 25th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration deadlines apply for each session.
The Healthy Mom and Baby Workshop focuses on education, resources, and support for both mother and child, especially for those who have not previously attended a KY-MOMS Healthy Baby workshop.
As an added incentive, participants who complete the workshop will receive a $25 Walmart gift card.
