The Grayson Police Department issued a press release this week concerning a recent bust by one of their officers. The release detailed that on the date of February 19th Officer Stone along with K-9 Toro were conducting their routine patrol of the Grayson City limits when they observed a white Chevrolet pickup with a fraudulent registration plate. Based on that information Officer Stone conducted a traffic stop and the vehicle operator was subsequently arrested while the vehicle itself was impounded. After the initial incident, Officer Stone received credible information that the vehicle in question was transporting a large quantity of drugs, so K-9 Toro conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle and was alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics.
A search warrant was obtained and executed on February 21st where the following items were seized: approximately two ounces of a clear crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, 47 grams of an unknown white powder, 1.39 grams of a purple powder believed to be heroin, an assortment of pills, a large assortment of drug paraphernalia, and a small amount of US currency. All of the seized items are said to be indicators of drug trafficking and were estimated to have a street value of over $10,000.

The Carter County FRYSC is stepping up in the form of a cleaning supply drive to bring the community together in collaboration to help those in need from Pike County due to recent flooding. The drive is set to collect items such as: mops, brooms, Clorox wipes, gallon or larger ziplock bags, hand sanitizer, tissues, and so much more. Collection will be ongoing this week through the date of Thursday, February 27th. Drop off of items will be open between 8am and 3pm each day through the deadline date, and all items can be dropped off at the Family Resource Center at your local school.
Other items being collected include shovels and buckets, gloves, toilet paper, paper towels, heaters, trash bags, etc. If you have any questions about whether an item will be accepted or what you can do to get involved and help you are being asked to call the Carter County FRYSC at 606-474-6696.Cash donations are being accepted as well and will be used to purchase the supplies that are needed most.

Remember that due to last week’s inclement weather the monthly community food pantry giveaway at the First Church of Christ in Grayson was rescheduled for this Friday, February 28th. If you want to participate in the monthly giveaway then you are welcome to come out to the church location at 287 Pomeroy Street between the hours of 9am and 12 noon on Friday. The food will be handed out on a first come and first served basis.
Please remember that you are not required to be an active member of the First Church of Christ to qualify for this food distribution. Everyone is welcome to come out and participate in the monthly community food pantry offerings.
Once again the February community food pantry will be held this Friday, February 28th from 9am until 12 noon at the First Church of Christ in Grayson.

We would like to remind everyone about the ongoing Fostering Possibilities initiative that works diligently to provide for those in need. The program works with the selfless mission to provide new clothing and other resources to local foster children along with children in kinship placements. This is done to help foster a feeling of self-esteem and belonging in the children during a difficult time of change in their lives.
The Fostering Possibilities boutique is located at 310 Carol Malone Blvd in Grayson, and is accepting any and all donations from generous members of the community to help them better serve the foster youth of Carter County. All donations help stock the boutique location to allow the initiative to serve one child at a time. Officials with the program want everyone to know that any amount – no matter how small – can help make a huge difference towards this mission.
