Grayson’s Rehab Center is reaching out to their community to ask for donations of an everyday item that many don’t even think about going without. Officials that work with the center have noted that many of their residents come to the center with close to nothing, and because of this are oftentimes left needing even the bare essentials. Currently they are looking to help meet this need by requesting donations of new or gently used bath towels to provide for the center’s residents.
If you are interested in helping out with this small gesture then you need to get in contact with Pam Wilburn. She is spearheading the donation effort and will be accepting all items or a cash donation to fund the purchase of the items herself. With the current year of 2024 preparing to wind down to a close your friends from the local Grayson Gallery and Art Center has already begun their preparations kick-off event 2025 in a big way. Gallery officials are hoping that 2025 is a year that not only brings them returning facings, but also plenty of newcomers to enjoy all of the events hosted at your local Gallery and Art Center.
Up first for 2025 will be a very special call for work – one that is not limiting any design, theme, or medium. All local artists regardless of their craft are welcome to create and show off at the upcoming exhibit which is open to “anything and everyone.” As always up to three pieces of work per artist will be accepted for the exhibit – unless prior approval is acquired – and it may be dropped off on the following two dates: Saturday, January 18th and again on Monday the 20th. During each of these dates the Gallery location at 301 East Third Street will be open between the hours of 10am to 2pm.
Please note that all pieces must be wired and ready for hanging, as well as being properly tagged with the artist name, title, medium and price or marked Not for Sale. Also remember that there is no entry fee for artists, but there will be a 20% commission on all sold works. A required registration form make be completed prior to drop off or can be done on-site.
As for details concerning this upcoming exhibit: the free events for artists and the community is set as the January Final Friday event and will head your way on January 31st from 6 until 9pm.

We’ve officially rolled over into 2025 and that means that the first round of penalties have been issued for the remaining unpaid Carter County property taxes. Here’s another reminder that when mailing in your payment you are being asked to include a postcard or to write the bill number on the check which you are paying with. Please note that if you want to receive a paid receipt for this payment then you must enclose a self-addressed and stamped envelope with the check.
Payments will also be accepted through Visa and Master Card platforms both over the phone or at the Sherriff’s office in person – however a small additional fee will be applied to all credit card payments no matter the method used. The Carter County Sheriff’s Department works under the mailing address of P.O. Box 1590, Grayson, KY 41143.
Currently these bills carry a 5% penalty on all payments increasing to a 10% penalty along with an additional 10% Sheriff’s add-on fee beginning in February. Please note that all delinquent tax bills will be transferred to the County Clerk’s Office as of the close of business on April 15th, 2025.In addition to the penalties and fees that are applied by the Sheriff’s Office, all payments made in the County Clerk’s Office are subject to a 20% County Attorney’s Fee, a 10% County Clerk’s Fee and additional interest equal to 1% per month. The delinquency is also subject to being sold to a Third Party in the summer of 2025.
