A new chapter has begun at Kentucky Christian University, and the Grayson community is celebrating right along with them. In a historic announcement made during a campus-wide event, KCU declared the complete elimination of its institutional debt—a major financial milestone that clears the path for the university’s future. Surrounded by students, faculty, alumni, and community supporters, President Dr. Terry Allcorn revealed that this achievement is just the beginning. The celebration also served as the public launch of KCU’s ambitious new capital campaign, For the Good of the Cause.
“We have officially entered a new era of faithfulness, viability, and relevance,” said Dr. Allcorn. “Becoming debt-free is not the end—it is the beginning. This campaign is about building forward with confidence and calling.”
The For the Good of the Cause campaign aims to raise $7 million, with more than $5 million already secured through generous gifts and pledges. The campaign is focused on three key priorities:
1. Eliminating University Debt – The first $3 million has already been used to fully retire KCU’s debt, giving the university financial freedom to reinvest in its mission. 2. Program Expansion – $2 million will go toward strengthening academic offerings—particularly within the Keeran School of Bible and Ministry—to help prepare the next generation of church leaders. And 3. Student Experience Enhancements – Another $2 million will fund vital improvements to student housing and campus gathering spaces, aiming to create a richer, more transformative experience for KCU students.
Founded in 1919, KCU remains firmly rooted in its mission to develop Christian leaders for service in the Church and the world. With a renewed vision and growing support, Dr. Allcorn believes the university is ready to serve churches and communities “for generations to come.”

Temporary parking restrictions have been announced ahead of the parade upcoming in Olive Hill. Drivers are being asked to plan ahead and cooperate with temporary parking restrictions along Route 60 in Olive Hill during the upcoming parade.
A “No Parking” zone will be enforced on both sides of Route 60 through town, stretching from Mike Fox Law Office to the Post Office. The restriction will be in effect during the parade, and officials are warning that any vehicles parked in violation of this notice will be towed.
Parade organizers are also asking residents and visitors to remain patient and avoid trying to exit town until the full parade has concluded. This includes not only the procession along Route 60 but also the return route via Back Street.
The temporary measures are intended to help ensure the safety of parade participants and spectators, while also making the flow of traffic smoother once the event concludes.
Everyone is encouraged to plan accordingly and help keep the route clear to make this community celebration safe and successful for all.

Elliott County is going big for Independence Day this year with a full-blown, family-friendly celebration planned for Saturday, July 5th in downtown Sandy Hook. The Elliott County Tourism Commission is inviting the entire community—and visitors too—to break out the red, white, and blue and enjoy an afternoon packed with excitement, live music, and good old-fashioned fun.
Festivities kick off at 2:00 p.m. on Main Street and will roll on until dusk, wrapping up with a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the night sky. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy an array of activities including bounce houses, a petting zoo, and classic chalk and bubble fun for the kids—all free of charge. Vendors will be on-site with delicious food, sweet treats, and local favorites to satisfy every craving.
Live music will keep the energy high, with performances by Brett Horton, Logan Purcell, and The Silver Dollar Band bringing the beat to this all-American celebration.
