A hiring event is headed our way thanks to Carter Nursing & Rehabilitation as they host their special Pot of Gold career fair featuring open interviews for several positions next week. It’ll all take place on Tuesday, March 11th between the hours of 10am and 4pm at 250 McDavid Blvd in Grayson. Nurses and aides are welcome to come out, fill out an application, and even get entered to win some great prizes.
On-site interviews will be conducted during the event with the Carter Team, and some of the bonuses being offered include a sign-on bonus, double pay on holiday, a tuition assistance program, free telehealth, quarterly raises, and much more. Carter Nursing & Rehabilitation wants new faces to join their family and has the perfect spot for you. Also throughout the afternoon the M&J Cafe food truck will be on site providing lunch.

March marks the 40th Music in Our Schools Month, and that means there’s no better time for the Carter County School District to put on their 11th annual Carter County All-County Band Concert. The great event is all set to come to life on the date Saturday, March 15th on the campus of East Carter High School inside of the Harold L. Holbrook Athletic Complex.
The concert will begin at 3pm and will be free and open to the public. Although free entry will be available, donations are going to be accepted at the door if you want to get involved in supporting the 2025 Music in Our Schools Month sponsored by United Through Music.

The Carter County Soil and Conservation District is offering up a soil and manure test incentive for Carter County Citizens only. Each citizen of our county is eligible for up to 15 total soil tests and 1 manure test, to be paid for by the Soil Conservation District. This payment comes from funds that were received from the 2025 Environmental Grant and will be used to help provide this service free of charge for county residents.
Anyone who is wanting to get involved and take advantage of this offering must drop off any and all soil samples at the Carter County Extension Office located at 94 Fairground Drive in Grayson between the open office hours of 8am and 4:30pm. Soil and manure tests will be sent out ASAP to ensure timely returns.

Registration for this year’s 4-H Camp will be opening soon and that means your local 4-H department is currently looking for organizations and even individuals that would like to sponsor a child’s attendance to this year’s camp. If you, or someone you know, is interested in being a sponsor then you may donate on the following tiers: a Clover sponsorship which provides a partial scholarship of your chosen amount, Bronze sponsor provides a half scholarship totaling $160, Silver a whole scholarship at $325, Gold that provides two scholarships at a price point of $325, and finally the Emerald sponsors which provide over $1000 in donations.

We would like to remind everyone about the ongoing Fostering Possibilities initiative that works diligently to provide for those in need. The program works with the selfless mission to provide new clothing and other resources to local foster children along with children in kinship placements. This is done to help foster a feeling of self-esteem and belonging in the children during a difficult time of change in their lives.
The Fostering Possibilities boutique is located at 310 Carol Malone Blvd in Grayson, and is accepting any and all donations from generous members of the community to help them better serve the foster youth of Carter County. All donations help stock the boutique location to allow the initiative to serve one child at a time. Officials with the program want everyone to know that any amount – no matter how small – can help make a huge difference towards this mission.
