Golfers, it’s time to tee up for a great cause. The East Carter Middle School football team is inviting players to hit the greens next weekend at their annual Golf Scramble fundraiser.
The event will take place on Sunday, June 8th at Hidden Cove Golf Course, located at Grayson Lake Park Road in Olive Hill. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start scheduled for 9 a.m.
The format is a four-person scramble, with entry fees set at $75 per player or $300 per team. Optional packages are available for $25 per golfer or $100 per team, which include two mulligans and two skirts per player.
The tournament will also feature special prizes, including $25 gift cards on all Par 3s for closest to the pin, and a $25 gift card for longest drive on Hole 16. Payouts include $400 for first place and $200 for second.
Food and drinks will be provided throughout the event, making it a fun-filled day for everyone involved.

A free Lego Camp is coming to Olive Hill on Wednesday, June 5th, and it’s sure to spark creativity for young builders. The camp is open to students currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade, with sessions split by age group.
Kindergarten through 2nd graders will meet from 11 a.m. to noon, and 3rd through 5th graders will take over from 1 to 2 p.m. Each session is limited to just 25 students, so spots will go fast!
The camp will be held in the Olive Hill Police Department Conference Room on Hitchens Avenue, right behind the city park.
Again, this is a free event, but pre-registration is required and must be completed by May 31st—or earlier if the sessions fill up.

We want to remind all of Carter County’s student athletes along with their parent or guardian that an open date is headed our way for free sports physicals from the professionals at UK King’s Daughters. The program is open to Kentucky students ages 13 to 19 and is designed to ensure young athletes are cleared and ready for participation in school sports. No appointment is required, and parents or guardians are not required to be present. However, they must complete and sign all required physical forms in ink prior to the event. Physicals will be conducted by licensed athletic trainers and orthopedic staff from KDMC.
The open date for all Kentucky high school athletes ages 13 to 19 will be held on Friday, July 11th from 9 to 12 noon at the UK King’s Daughters Medical Pavilion at 2000 Ashland Drive in Russell. All required sports physical forms can be found by scanning a QR code on the event’s official flyer.

Get ready to make a splash in one of the most unique summer events around! Carter Caves State Resort Park is opening up Cave Branch Cave for an unforgettable Underground Pool Party on June 25th, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Bring your favorite floatie, slip into a provided lifejacket, and get set to drift through the cool, dark waters of the cave. This special one-day event offers up to 45 minutes of floating time in the cave, where water levels can reach up to 8 feet deep.
Closed-toe shoes are a must, and all participants must check in at the Welcome Center before the adventure begins. This event is weather-dependent, so keep an eye out for updates.
Tickets are just $10 per person, and participants must be 8 years or older. Guests under 18 must have a guardian present, and all attendees must sign a waiver before entering.
