Families in our area have another opportunity coming up to enjoy some food, fun, faith and family time together, with a free monthly outreach program hosted by Oak Grove Church of Christ.
It’s called Kids Korner, and the next gathering is coming up Saturday, September 26th, from 11 o’clock in the morning until 1 o’clock in the afternoon at the Oak Grove Life Center.
The program is open to all families, and there’s something planned for children as well as parents and other adults. Children in fifth grade and younger can take part in Bible lessons, while youth and adult Bible studies will also be available as needed.
But this isn’t just about sitting down for a lesson. Kids Korner also includes games and activities, giving children a chance to have fun, interact with others and enjoy some time together.
And lunch is included. The organizers will provide a free lunch for the entire family, so there’s no cost to come out and participate.
Each month, Kids Korner also features a giveaway of essential items, and this month’s giveaway is focused on something every family can use: hygiene products.
According to the event information, every family attending will receive hygiene products, with items such as shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, floss and other everyday necessities being included.
The organizers say Kids Korner is designed as a free monthly family outreach program, bringing families together in a welcoming environment while providing opportunities for fellowship, learning, activities and practical assistance.
So, if you’re looking for something the whole family can enjoy, mark your calendar for Saturday, September 26th.
Kids Korner will take place from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Oak Grove Life Center, and again, it’s open to all families.
You’ll find Bible lessons for children, Bible studies available for youth and adults, games and activities, a free family lunch, and this month’s hygiene-product giveaway.
For updates and information about future Kids Korner events, organizers encourage families to follow Oak Grove Church of Christ on Facebook.
It’s a simple invitation to families in our community: come together, enjoy a meal, let the kids have some fun, and take part in a program built around food, fun, faith and family.

Farmers, agricultural families, and anyone interested in learning more about farming and innovation in our region have an opportunity coming up to get out on the farm and see some of those ideas in action.
The 2026 Farm and Family Field Day officially has a reschedule day for Tuesday, October 13th, at R&J Farms, 693 Cattle Run in Garrison.
The event is being hosted by the Carter and Greenup County Cooperative Extension Services, along with the Carter County Soil Conservation District, and organizers have put together an evening that combines education, local agriculture, food, and a chance to see a working farm firsthand.
Registration will begin at 4 o’clock that afternoon, and that’s also the deadline for submitting entries for the event’s dessert contest. At 4:30, the food line will open, with organizers offering a meal and thanking the East and West Carter FFA for their involvement.
Then at 5 o’clock, the event officially gets underway with a welcome. Beginning around 5:15, attendees will have the opportunity to hear highlights from local businesses and agricultural organizations, with door prizes also being given away.
There will also be a question-and-answer session featuring Robert Jones, the owner of R&J Farms, along with representatives from the Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Division of Forestry.
Jones will talk about his diversified farming operation, which includes bees, freezer beef, timber and more, giving those attending a look at the different ways a modern agricultural operation can utilize its land and resources.
Another featured presentation will focus on farm efficiency and innovation, with Dr. Steve Higgins from the University of Kentucky’s Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering program.
And after those presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a self-guided farm tour and visit with the speakers.
So whether you’re involved in agriculture yourself, you’re interested in learning more about farming, or you simply want to see what some of our local producers are doing, the Farm and Family Field Day offers a chance to get out, learn something new, enjoy a meal, and meet others involved in agriculture across our region.
Again, the 2026 Farm and Family Field Day will be held Tuesday, October 13th, at R&J Farms, 693 Cattle Run in Garrison. Registration begins at 4 PM, with food at 4:30 and the program getting underway at 5. Organizers do note that parking is limited, so carpooling is strongly recommended. And if you’re attending, don’t forget to bring a lawn chair.
For those coming from Grayson, organizers direct attendees to take AA-10 to Kentucky 7, turn right at the caution light, then left onto KY 784, also known as Three Prong. At the stop sign, continue straight, then turn left at the church onto Cattle Run.
It’s an evening focused on local agriculture, education, innovation and family, and another opportunity to see the work being done right here in our region.
