Carter County clean up dumpster will be on the WEST END this week and open Wednesday through Friday (9/9 - 9/11) 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM

If you’re looking for a creative way to spend a winter Saturday and learn something new, the Carter County Extension Office has an event coming up that combines art, tradition, and hands-on fun.

The Barn Quilt Paint Party, led by Liz’s Barn Quilts, is set for Saturday, February 21st, at the Carter County Extension Office, First Building, running from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. This one-day workshop gives participants the chance to paint their very own barn quilt sign — no experience required.

Organizers say everything you need is included in the price, from the board and paint to brushes and supplies. Boards will be primed and ready to paint when you arrive, and you’ll even be able to choose your paint colors the day of the event. Lunch is also provided, and attendees are encouraged to let organizers know about any dietary needs ahead of time.

Several outdoor sign sizes are available, including 2-by-2, 3-by-3, and 4-by-4, with pricing based on size. Participants are asked to bring a drink, a hair dryer, and 94-inch Frog Tape to help with the painting process.

Space is limited, and registration and full payment are required by January 21st. To sign up or get more information, you can call the Carter County Extension Office at 606-474-6686.

Whether you’re decorating a barn, a porch, or just want a beautiful piece of handcrafted art, organizers say this paint party is a fun way to spend the day, meet others in the community, and take home something truly one-of-a-kind.

Again, that’s the Barn Quilt Paint Party, Saturday, February 21st, from 9 to 3, at the Carter County Extension Office.
