The Carter County Public Library is going to be busy at their Grayson branch location as there is not one but two special and fun events planned at that location. Up first will be the very first offering of their Movie Night which begins this Friday, January 31st at 6:30pm. This month’s movie choice will be the Pixar smash hit Inside Out 2 which released last year and smashed multiple records for the release of an animated movie.
Follow this week’s first CCPL Movie Night, there are plans for the event to continue on the last Friday of each month.
Then next up will be a Valentine’s Day Party on Friday, February 7th that will see all participants decorate a special Valentine’s box. The party gets underway at 6pm on the 7th. Those in charge of the event will be providing the supplies but anyone who has a shoebox available is asked to bring one with them. It has also been announced that a Olive Hill branch Valentine’s Day Party is planned as well – however it is scheduled for Friday, February 14th. At the Olive Hill party all participants will be decorating a Valentine’s Day Bag, exchanging cards, enjoying a story and activity, some delicious snacks, and even decorating cookies. All of the festivities will begin at 4pm on the 14th.

In another look at celebrations for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday – information has been released on the annual performance brought to you by the Olive Hill Center for Arts and Heritage. The 2025 offering is planned to be a fun evening full of music, dance, and laughter and will be held on Friday, February 7th. It kicks off at 6pm at the Center and will bring together local artists, musicians, and performers in one collaborative event.
It will showcase a dynamic blend of classical and contemporary music and dance performances that will focus on the timeless emotions we know as love and affection. Organizers are calling this year’s event a truly memorable experience and are encouraging everyone to attend.

Don’t forget that an East Carter Tennis Informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 28th at 4pm inside the ECMS cafeteria. All 3rd grade through high school students along with their parents or guardians are being asked to attend.
Tennis tryouts are set to begin on Monday, February 17th at 5:15pm, and they will continue every Friday at the same time at the ECMS courts throughout February with weather permitting. These practices will be open to all 3rd grades through high school aged students. Completed physicals must be brought to the tryouts. Celebrate Recovery, a weekly meeting series held at the First Church of Christ in Grayson on Pomeroy Street, will begin tonight’s meeting at 6:30pm. At the meetings those in attendance will learn the secrets of victorious living over issues such as: addictions, anger, depression, mental stresses, and much more. Large and small group meetings will be held each week. All are welcome to attend, and free food will be offered to all who are in attendance.
