A community event aimed at connecting families with helpful services will be coming up later this month in Carter County.
A Special Needs Resource Fair is scheduled for Monday, March 24th at the gymnasium of East Carter High School. The event will take place from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. and is open to individuals and families of all ages.
Organizers say the goal of the evening is to help people learn more about the many resources available in the region for individuals with disabilities, as well as their parents, caregivers, and family members. The event will bring together a number of local and regional agencies that provide services, support programs, and helpful information.
Participating organizations are expected to include representatives from Carter County Schools Preschool, First Steps, FIVCO Area Development District, Mountain Comprehensive Care Center, Pathways, Primary Plus, and the Northeast Kentucky Community Action Agency, along with several other service providers.
Those attending will have the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from these organizations, ask questions, and learn about programs that may benefit them or their family members.
The event is free and open to the public, and organizers say everyone is welcome to attend, including individuals with disabilities, parents and caregivers, and any community members who would like to learn more about the services available in the area.
In addition to information booths, the evening will also feature door prizes, food, and activities for kids.
Registration is not required, but those planning to attend are encouraged to register in advance to help organizers prepare.
Again, the Special Needs Resource Fair will be held March 24th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at East Carter High School.
