The Olive Hill City Council will be holding their regular monthly meeting for March today inside the Olive Hill Police Department. This regular meeting – which is scheduled for 6pm – will operate under the following agenda items: there will be a review and a vote on roadblock applications, followed by an update to the board members from the housing authority. After that Max Hammond will deliver a trail town update then a resolution for the KYMEA Director and alternate. Departmental reports from Olive Hill’s police, fire, and code enforcement will all be heard along with the treasurer’s report for the month of February; but before that there will be a review and discussion on the opening on the Board of Commissions. Time for an open discussion for those in attendance will also be available, and finally an Executive Session will be held in accordance with KRS 61.810.
Once again this will be the March regular monthly meeting of the Olive Hill City Council this evening at 6pm inside the Olive Hill Police Department.

The Grayson Gallery and Art Center have officially announced their call for art for this month’s 12th annual Women in the Arts event that will head our way as the March Final Friday. Traditionally this show works as a celebration of Women’s History Month and offers a chance to showcase works from our talented local female artists from any and all mediums. Details about the free March 28th event will be announced soon, but for now here’s the information about this month’s submission process: just the ladies this month are welcome to submit up to three of their original artworks in any size, subject, or medium. All artworks must come with a registration form attached or one may also be done on site when dropping off the artworks. All pieces must also be ready to hang or display and be properly tagged including the artist name, title, and price or marked Not For Sale.
The artwork will be accepted on the dates of Saturday, March 23rd as well as the following Monday, March 25th between 10am and 2pm on both dates. Gallery officials have also confirmed that late submissions are not guaranteed favorable display spaces.

April is all set as the annual National Poetry Month and your own Carter County Poetry Society will be celebrating by hosting a special Community Reading in partnership with the Young Library on the campus of Kentucky Christian University. This event will be held on Saturday, April 12th beginning at 12 noon and running through 3pm.
The entire community is invited to attend, listen, and share their own works – but anyone wanting to get involved is reminded that all pieces should be family friendly.

Carter County’s Family Resource Youth Service Centers are coming together to host a community wide baby shower in the month of March. On Thursday, March 20th between the hours of 10am and 1pm various agencies along with businesses will be on site and set up distributing helpful information to expecting mothers and their families. Free gifts will also be given out while supplies last, so make sure and be one of the first ones attending the shower. Refreshments will be provided.
The FRYSC baby shower will be held inside the Carter County Extension Office which is located at 94 Fairgrounds Drive in Grayson.

Team Kentucky is getting ready to present a special Superheroes for Kids camp in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month in April. The northeastern service region will hold the event on the date of Friday, April 18th from 4:30 until 7pm at the Grayson Sports Park located at 596 Robert & Mary Street – the event will see free food, prizes and toys, plenty of games, an egg hunt, and even community partners all set up for everyone to enjoy.
Admission to the event will be free and everyone is welcome to come out and participate in this special Superheroes for Kids camp in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month.

Celebrate Recovery, a weekly meeting series held at the First Church of Christ in Grayson on Pomeroy Street, will begin tonight’s meeting at 6:30pm. At the meetings those in attendance will learn the secrets of victorious living over issues such as: addictions, anger, depression, mental stresses, and much more. Large and small group meetings will be held each week. All are welcome to attend, and free food will be offered to all who are in attendance.
