Classic cars, custom builds, great food, and community support will all come together next month as the Grayson Volunteer Fire Department prepares to host the Fire and Smoke Car Show on Saturday, June 14th.
The event, hosted alongside The Hogs Trough, will run from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Flag Day and promises a full day of family-friendly entertainment, vehicles, and fundraising in support of an important cause.
Organizers say all vehicles are welcome to participate, with car registration set at ten dollars. A wide variety of awards and trophies will be presented throughout the day, including Best in Show, People’s Choice, Long Haul Legend, Best Hot Rod, Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Best Veteran-Owned vehicle, Best Bike, and several others. Special categories such as Rat Rod, Power Wheels, Work in Progress, and Redline Renegade are also planned.
The event will also feature food, face painting, and plenty of opportunities for the community to come together and enjoy the day.
According to organizers, all proceeds raised during the Fire and Smoke Car Show will help support the 2026 Eastern Kentucky Firefighters Association Conference, which will be hosted by the Grayson Fire Department with Deputy Chief Eddie Rucker serving as president of the 2026 EKFA.
Community members are encouraged to come out, bring the family, enjoy some incredible vehicles, and help support local firefighters and emergency service efforts here in the region.

Summer break is here, and for many families across Eastern Kentucky, help is available to make sure children stay fed and healthy while school is out.
The Kentucky Summer EBT program, also known as SUN Bucks, is now providing eligible families with a one-time payment of 120 dollars per school-aged child to help cover grocery costs during the summer months. The benefit is available for children ages 6 through 17 as of August 1st.
Families already enrolled in programs like SNAP, KTAP, or Kinship Care may be automatically approved, with benefits being added directly to their EBT cards. But even families not currently enrolled in those programs may still qualify based on household income.
Officials say Summer EBT is designed to help bridge the gap when school cafeterias are closed for the summer, giving families extra support while children are home from class.
To see if your household qualifies, families can check eligibility and income guidelines online at feedingky.org/sebteligibility. Applications can then be completed at kysebt.ky.gov.
The deadline to apply is August 15th.
Community leaders encourage families not to wait, reminding parents that even a little extra grocery assistance during the summer can make a big difference for local children and households.

Olive Hill’s city council will be holding a special monthly meeting this evening at 6pm inside of the Olive Hill Police Station. This special meeting is working under an agenda that includes but is not limited to the following discussion items: a bluegrass update, the Olive Hill tourism commission, departmental reports from Olive Hill’s police, fire, and code enforcement departments along with the April 2026 treasurer’s report. Finally, in according with KRS 61.810, an executive session will be held to cap off the evening’s meeting.
Once again that will be a special meeting of the Olive Hill city council this evening at 6pm inside the Olive Hill Police Station.
