Carter County clean up dumpster will be on the EAST END this week and open Wednesday through Friday (10/14 - 10/16) 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM

With the November General Election approaching, voters in Carter County are encouraged to take note of several important dates and deadlines for registering and casting their ballots.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd, and polls will be open from 6 o’clock in the morning until 6 o’clock in the evening. If you still need to register to vote, the deadline is Monday, October 5th. Online registration must be completed by 4 o’clock that afternoon. Registration cards mailed in must be postmarked by October 5th, and cards delivered to the County Clerk’s Office can be accepted through the close of business.

For voters who plan to cast an absentee ballot, the online request portal opened September 19th. The deadline to request a mail-in absentee ballot is Tuesday, October 20th, at 11:59 PM.

The Carter County election information also lists several opportunities to vote in person before Election Day. Excused in-person absentee voting is scheduled for October 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 26th, 27th, and 28th, at the Grayson office, from 8:30 in the morning until 4 o’clock in the afternoon.

Then, no excuse early in-person voting will be available Thursday, October 29th, through Saturday, October 31st, at both the Grayson and Olive Hill locations, from 8 AM until 4 PM. If you plan to vote early, be sure to confirm the location and hours before heading out.

And for those voting on Election Day, all precincts will be open from 6 AM until 6 PM.

Voters can check their registration, find their polling location, review absentee voting information, and access other election resources through the Kentucky State Board of Elections website at GoVote dot KY dot gov.

Again, the key dates to remember are October 5th for voter registration, October 20th for requesting a mail-in absentee ballot, October 29th through the 31st for no-excuse early voting, and Tuesday, November 3rd, for Election Day.

Make a plan, check your information ahead of time, and be sure you know when and where you can cast your ballot.

==================

Grayson voters will soon have an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates seeking to serve as the city’s next mayor. Carter County Broadcasting will host a Grayson Mayoral Debate on Tuesday, October 20th, beginning at 6 o’clock that evening. The debate will give candidates an opportunity to discuss their vision, plans, and priorities for the community while answering questions submitted by members of the public.

The event will be streamed live on YouTube from the Go Radio Local TV page, giving residents a chance to follow along and hear from the candidates. And we’re inviting you to be part of the discussion by submitting questions you’d like the candidates to address. If you have a question about the future of Grayson, city services, community needs, or another issue you’d like to hear discussed, you can email it to mail@wgohwugo.com.

There are a few important guidelines to keep in mind when submitting your questions.

First, all questions must be submitted by email to mail@wgohwugo.com. Questions will be reviewed and vetted by Carter County Broadcasting before the debate. That process is intended to help ensure the questions selected are fair, appropriate, and clearly worded, without unfairly favoring or targeting any candidate through biased or loaded wording. All questions will be selected ahead of the event. No questions will be accepted live during the debate, so if there’s something you’d like the candidates to address, be sure to send it in advance.

And please understand that submitting a question does not guarantee it will be selected or asked during the broadcast. We expect to receive questions from members of the community, and not every submission may be included. The questions used will be chosen through the review process before debate night.

Again, the Grayson Mayoral Debate, hosted by Carter County Broadcasting, is set for Tuesday, October 20th, at 6 PM, with the event streamed live on YouTube on Go Radio Local TV.

Send your questions to mail@wgohwugo.com. Remember, all submissions must be emailed ahead of time, questions will be reviewed for fairness and neutrality, and no questions will be taken live during the debate. Submitting a question does not guarantee it will be selected. Join us October 20th as we hear from Grayson’s mayoral candidates and give voters an opportunity to learn more about the people and ideas on the ballot.
