Residents in Carter County will have a chance to safely dispose of sensitive documents this weekend during a community shred event in Grayson.
Commercial Bank of Grayson will host its annual Community Shred Day on Saturday, April 18th, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at its main office in Grayson.
Organizers say the event gives both individuals and businesses an opportunity to securely destroy old paperwork, including financial records and personal documents. On-site hard drive destruction will also be available for those needing to dispose of electronic storage devices.
With the tax filing deadline approaching, bank officials say it’s a good time for people to review what records they need to keep and what can be safely discarded, helping reduce clutter while also protecting against identity theft.
The event is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to support the community by providing convenient and secure services for handling sensitive information.
Again, Community Shred Day will take place Saturday, April 18th, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Commercial Bank of Grayson’s main office.

Carter County Schools are asking for input from the community as they begin planning for the upcoming school year and beyond.
District officials are encouraging parents, students, and community members to take part in the 2026 Federal Programs Needs Assessment. They say the information collected through the survey will play an important role in shaping decisions that impact both individual schools and the district as a whole.
The assessment is used to help identify areas of need, guide funding priorities, and improve programs and services offered to students across Carter County.
School leaders say feedback from the community is a key part of that process, helping ensure that decisions reflect the needs and concerns of local families.
The survey is available online and can be completed through a link provided by the district.
Again, Carter County Schools are asking community members to take a few minutes to complete the 2026 Federal Programs Needs Assessment, with input helping guide future planning and improvements across the district.

The Carter County Clean-Up campaign continues this week, with crews operating on the East end of the county. Dumpsters will be available for public use at the county maintenance garage located along US 60, and clean-up personnel will be on hand to help unload items each day from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, today through Friday.
As a reminder, the list of items not accepted has been updated. Crews will not collect refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, or batteries. And all materials brought to the site must be bagged or boxed — no loose items will be accepted. The County Clean-Up runs on a rotating schedule, alternating between the East and West ends of Carter County every two weeks. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the Grayson maintenance garage from April 15th through the 27th.
