Today is the day that local area job seekers who may be looking to sharpen their skills or land their next opportunity are invited to a free workshop in Grayson.
The Kentucky Career Center EKCEP, in partnership with the City of Grayson, is all set to host a Job Seeker Workshop this afternoon with everything beginning at 1 and lasting until 3 p.m. The free workshop will be available at Grayson City Hall, located at 302 East Main Street.
The event is designed to help participants build confidence in their job search by learning practical job-hunting strategies from career professionals. Whether you’re entering the workforce for the first time, returning after time away, or simply looking for a new career opportunity, organizers say the session will provide valuable guidance to help make your job search more focused and successful.
The free workshop is open to anyone looking to improve their employment prospects, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive advice from experienced workforce specialists.

One of Carter County’s biggest annual traditions is just around the corner, and if you love hunting for hidden treasures, antiques, collectibles, or that one-of-a-kind bargain, it’s almost time for the Route 60 Yard Sale.
The annual event returns Thursday, August 6th, through Sunday, August 9th, transforming 35 miles of U.S. 60 through Carter County into one giant community-wide yard sale stretching from the Rowan County line all the way to the Boyd County line.
Every year, thousands of bargain hunters make their way through the county as homeowners, churches, civic groups, and local organizations line the highway with everything from antiques and vintage collectibles to furniture, tools, clothing, toys, handmade crafts, and plenty of unexpected treasures just waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re searching for something you’ve wanted for years or simply enjoying the thrill of seeing what you’ll find next, the Route 60 Yard Sale has become a summertime tradition that draws visitors from across Kentucky and neighboring states.
With all of that excitement comes a reminder to slow down and stay alert. Motorists should expect heavier-than-normal traffic, frequent stops, and pedestrians walking along the shoulders of U.S. 60 throughout the weekend. Drivers are encouraged to use extra caution, watch for people crossing the roadway, and be prepared for vehicles entering and leaving yard sale locations with little notice.
If you’re planning to set up a sale, remember to keep displays a safe distance from the roadway and help ensure customers can park without creating hazards for other drivers.

The Carter County Clean-Up campaign continues this week, with crews operating on the West end of the county. Dumpsters will be available for public use at the county maintenance garage located along US 60, and clean-up personnel will be on hand to help unload items each day from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, today through Friday.
As a reminder, the list of items not accepted has been updated. Crews will not collect refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, or batteries. And all materials brought to the site must be bagged or boxed — no loose items will be accepted. The County Clean-Up runs on a rotating schedule, alternating between the East and West ends of Carter County every two weeks. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the Grayson maintenance garage from August 5th through the 7th.
This valuable community service is made possible by the Carter County Solid Waste Department, who continue to support these efforts to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful. Again, dumpsters are open today through Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at the West end site in Olive Hill.
