A new chapter has begun at Kentucky Christian University, and the Grayson community is celebrating right along with them. In a historic announcement made during a campus-wide event, KCU declared the complete elimination of its institutional debt—a major financial milestone that clears the path for the university’s future. Surrounded by students, faculty, alumni, and community supporters, President Dr. Terry Allcorn revealed that this achievement is just the beginning. The celebration also served as the public launch of KCU’s ambitious new capital campaign, For the Good of the Cause.
“We have officially entered a new era of faithfulness, viability, and relevance,” said Dr. Allcorn. “Becoming debt-free is not the end—it is the beginning. This campaign is about building forward with confidence and calling.”
The For the Good of the Cause campaign aims to raise $7 million, with more than $5 million already secured through generous gifts and pledges. The campaign is focused on three key priorities:
1. Eliminating University Debt – The first $3 million has already been used to fully retire KCU’s debt, giving the university financial freedom to reinvest in its mission. 2. Program Expansion – $2 million will go toward strengthening academic offerings—particularly within the Keeran School of Bible and Ministry—to help prepare the next generation of church leaders. And 3. Student Experience Enhancements – Another $2 million will fund vital improvements to student housing and campus gathering spaces, aiming to create a richer, more transformative experience for KCU students.
Founded in 1919, KCU remains firmly rooted in its mission to develop Christian leaders for service in the Church and the world. With a renewed vision and growing support, Dr. Allcorn believes the university is ready to serve churches and communities “for generations to come.”

The Carter County Clean-Up campaign continues this week, with crews operating on the West end of the county. Dumpsters will be available for public use at the county maintenance garage along US 60, and clean-up personnel will be on hand to help unload items from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, today and Thursday – however dumpsters will not be made available on Friday of this week due to the Independence Day holiday.
As a reminder, the list of items not accepted has been updated. Crews will not collect refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, or batteries. And all materials brought to the site must be bagged or boxed — no loose items will be accepted. The County Clean-Up runs on a rotating schedule, alternating between the East and West ends of Carter County every two weeks. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the Grayson maintenance garage from July 9th through the 11th.
This valuable community service is made possible by the Carter County Solid Waste Department, who continue to support these efforts to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful.
Again, dumpsters are open today and Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at the West end site in Olive Hill.
