Fresh produce, locally grown goods, and the return of a beloved summertime tradition are just around the corner as the Carter County Farmers Market prepares to kick off its 2026 season.
Residents in western Carter County will be the first to welcome local growers back when the Olive Hill Farmers Market opens on Wednesday, June 17th at 8:00 a.m. The market will once again be located at Save-A-Lot in Olive Hill and will continue operating throughout the season every Wednesday and Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. until vendors sell out.
For residents in the eastern portion of the county, the Grayson Farmers Market will officially open on Saturday, July 11th at 9:00 a.m. at the Carter County Extension Office. Following opening day, the Grayson market will be held each Tuesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and each Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m., with vendors remaining open until products are sold out.
Farmers markets have long served as an important connection between local producers and the community, providing access to fresh fruits, vegetables, homemade products, baked goods, and other locally sourced items while supporting family farms and small businesses right here in Carter County.
Organizers say opening day is always an exciting time, offering residents an opportunity to meet local growers, discover seasonal products, and invest directly in the people who help feed our communities.
As summer harvest season begins, shoppers are encouraged to arrive early for the best selection and to support the hard-working farmers and vendors who make these markets possible year after year.
The Olive Hill Farmers Market opens Wednesday, June 17th at 8:00 a.m. at Save-A-Lot, while the Grayson Farmers Market opens Saturday, July 11th at 9:00 a.m. at the Carter County Extension Office. Camp ECMS is finally here and that means this week, students from across East Carter will be heading to East Carter Middle School for three days packed with fun, friends, and exciting activities. From swimming and tennis to art, real-life skills, a BMX show, and a trip to Malibu Jack’s, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
To all of the students attending, we hope you have an amazing time, make great memories, try something new, and enjoy every minute of Camp ECMS 2026. Have fun, stay safe, and get ready for a fantastic week.

The Carter County Clean-Up campaign continues this week, with crews operating on the East end of the county. Dumpsters will be available for public use at the county maintenance garage located in Grayson, and clean-up personnel will be on hand to help unload items each day from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, today through Friday.
As a reminder, the list of items not accepted has been updated. Crews will not collect refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, or batteries. And all materials brought to the site must be bagged or boxed — no loose items will be accepted. The County Clean-Up runs on a rotating schedule, alternating between the East and West ends of Carter County every two weeks. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the Grayson maintenance garage from June 17th through the 19th.
This valuable community service is made possible by the Carter County Solid Waste Department, who continue to support these efforts to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful. Again, dumpsters are open today through Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at the East end site in Grayson.
