Young athletes in Carter County will have a chance to get a jump start on their football dreams this summer, as East Carter Football hosts its 2025 Future Champs Youth Football Camp at Prichard Football Field in Grayson.
Open to students from preschool through 6th grade, the free camp will run July 14, 15, 17, and 18 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each evening. The program offers a perfect opportunity for kids to try out the sport in a fun and encouraging environment.
Campers will receive instruction in football fundamentals directly from East Carter High School players and coaches, helping young participants build skills, confidence, and a love for the game—whether they’re new to football or already on their way to becoming future Raiders.
In addition to the camp itself, sign-ups for the Grayson Youth Football League will also take place during the week. Registration is $75 for football players and $50 for cheerleaders, with families asked to donate a case of pop, bottled water, or Gatorade to help support the league’s needs during the season.
This camp is more than just an introduction to football—it’s a chance for kids to connect with local role models, learn teamwork, and have a blast while doing it. There’s more planned for the Raider community as well as they are invited to show up, cheer loud, and celebrate strength as East Carter Football hosts its annual Lift-a-Thon on Friday, June 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the East Carter Football Field.
The event is more than just a showcase of physical power—it’s a celebration of the hard work and dedication put in by student athletes throughout the offseason. Friends, family, and fans will get a front-row seat as players demonstrate their strength and progress in an exciting, high-energy environment.
In addition to the lifting action, the evening promises a fun atmosphere for all ages, with food, refreshments, and music available for attendees. Fans are encouraged to wear their navy blue and red and come ready to show their Raider pride.

Moving things over to the west end of the county: West Carter Football is lighting up the summer with its annual Friday Night Lights Camp, returning June 17th, 19th, and 20th at “The Hill” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each evening.
Open to students entering Pre-K through 8th grade in the 2025–2026 school year, the camp is a perfect opportunity for young athletes to experience the excitement of Comet football while learning fundamentals, participating in games and competitions, and having plenty of fun along the way.
Each camper will receive a meal every night, a camp T-shirt, and expert instruction from the West Carter coaching staff and players. The cost is $25 per camper, with discounts available for families registering multiple siblings.
In case of inclement weather, activities will be moved indoors. Whether your child is new to the sport or already dreaming of Friday night touchdowns, this three-day camp is a great chance to learn, grow, and feel the energy of Comet pride.

The Carter County Clean-Up campaign continues this week, with crews operating on the East end of the county. Dumpsters will be available for public use at the county maintenance garage in Grayson, and clean-up personnel will be on hand to help unload items each day from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Wednesday through Friday.
As a reminder, the list of items not accepted has been updated. Crews will not collect refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, or batteries. And all materials brought to the site must be bagged or boxed — no loose items will be accepted. The County Clean-Up runs on a rotating schedule, alternating between the East and West ends of Carter County every two weeks. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the Olive Hill maintenance garage along US 60 from June 18th through the 20th.
