The Grayson Police Department says an investigation involving reports of an individual asking members of the public for money has now been resolved.
According to police, officers began looking into the matter after receiving information from concerned citizens. Law enforcement was able to identify the individual involved and make direct contact.
Officials say the situation was addressed, and a resolution has been reached at this time. No criminal charges have been filed.
The department says it will continue to monitor the situation and reminds residents to report any suspicious or concerning activity.

The scholarship season is now underway for students in the Grayson Rural Electric Cooperative service area.
Applications are open for the 2026 Grayson RECC Scholarship Program, offering local students the opportunity to earn financial assistance toward their college or training costs. Grayson RECC will award ten scholarships of one thousand dollars each, and students are encouraged to apply by March 6th, 2026.
To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior or a non-traditional student, planning to enroll in or already enrolled in an accredited college, university, technical school, or job-training program of their choice. Entrants must also live on Grayson RECC lines, or be the dependent of a member whose account is located within the cooperative’s service area.
In addition to filling out the application, students are required to submit an essay of 250–500 words, describing an example of leadership and community contribution and how they hope to make a difference in the future. Applications also include lists of honors, activities, and achievements, as well as official transcripts.
Scholarship funds are paid directly to the educational institution once proof of enrollment has been provided, and awards will be applied toward the upcoming fall semester.

Parents of Carter County students in grades seven through twelve are being asked to take a few moments to return an important consent form connected to the Pathfinder student survey.
School officials say returning the form is important even if you choose not to allow your child to participate. Every response helps give the community a clearer picture of student needs across Carter County.
The Pathfinder survey itself is completely anonymous. No student names are collected, and all results are grouped together. That information is then used to help guide future decisions that impact local students and families.
According to school leaders, the data gathered from the survey plays a key role in expanding after-school and summer programs, growing STEM and career pathways like the 1ST2FLY aviation initiative, and improving access to arts, recreation, and outdoor opportunities. It also helps community partners better support students’ overall quality of life.
Officials stress that the more forms that are returned, the better the data — and ultimately, the better the outcomes for kids across the county.
Parents of students at East Carter Middle School and West Carter Middle School can find the consent forms online through the Carter County Schools website. Links are available directly through each school’s page, making it quick and easy to review and respond.
Again, parents are encouraged to return the Pathfinder survey consent form, regardless of their decision, to help ensure future programs and opportunities are built around the real needs of Carter County students.

The Carter County Clean-Up campaign continues this week, with crews operating on the East end of the county. Dumpsters will be available for public use at the county maintenance garage located along US 60, and clean-up personnel will be on hand to help unload items each day from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, today through Friday.
As a reminder, the list of items not accepted has been updated. Crews will not collect refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, or batteries. And all materials brought to the site must be bagged or boxed — no loose items will be accepted. The County Clean-Up runs on a rotating schedule, alternating between the East and West ends of Carter County every two weeks. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the Grayson maintenance garage from March 11th through the 13th.
