The magic of Christmas is on its way back to Olive Hill — and this year’s Christmas at the Depot promises to shine brighter than ever.
Set for Monday, December 15th from 6 to 8 p.m., this free community event turns the Depot area into a winter wonderland, where hundreds of local kids line up each year to meet Santa and take home a special gift — last year, more than 500 children received presents, and the goal is to spread even more smiles this season.
Hosted by Olive Hill Trail Town and Cash Express, the event brings neighbors, churches, and volunteers together to make sure every child feels the warmth of the holidays. Donations of toys, coats, scarves, blankets, treats, and hot cocoa are all welcome — and anyone wishing to give can drop toys off directly at Cash Express on Railroad Street.
Organizers are also inviting groups and individuals to set up booths, hand out goodies, or help decorate — because every little bit of cheer helps make this night unforgettable.
If you’d like to volunteer or donate, reach out after November 4th to join the effort. Bring your Christmas spirit, your generosity, and your love for community — because at the Depot, the true magic of the season is found in giving.

The magic of the season is returning to downtown Grayson.
The Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce has officially announced details for one of the community’s most beloved holiday traditions — the annual Grayson Christmas Parade, set for Saturday, December 6th at 5:30 PM.
This year’s theme, “Sweet Christmas Memories,” captures everything we love about the holidays — the laughter of children, the glow of Christmas lights, and those timeless moments shared with family, friends, and neighbors.
Entries are now being accepted for floats, groups, and organizations wanting to take part in this year’s parade. The Chamber encourages everyone to visit graysonchamber.com/hometown-holidays-2 to read the rules and lineup details before signing up. Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive a confirmation, and final lineup positions will be announced just before parade day.
Main Street will come alive once again as the heart of Grayson shines bright with holiday spirit — and you can be part of the celebration.

The Carter County Clean-Up campaign continues this week, with crews operating on the West end of the county. Dumpsters will be available for public use at the county maintenance garage along US 60, and clean-up personnel will be on hand to help unload items each day from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, today through Friday.
As a reminder, the list of items not accepted has been updated. Crews will not collect refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, or batteries. And all materials brought to the site must be bagged or boxed — no loose items will be accepted. The County Clean-Up runs on a rotating schedule, alternating between the East and West ends of Carter County every two weeks. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the Grayson maintenance garage but due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday they will be open only one Wednesday, November 26th that week to ensure the crew can enjoy the holiday with their family and friends.
This valuable community service is made possible by the Carter County Solid Waste Department, who continue to support these efforts to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful.
Again, dumpsters are open today through Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at the West end site in Olive Hill.
