We want to remind you about a fantastic resource in Grayson to support foster children and families throughout our region. The Fostering Possibilities Boutique, located at 310 South Carol Malone Boulevard, provides new clothing and essential items to children in foster care, kinship placements, or fictive kinship placements.
The boutique’s mission is to help kids feel a sense of belonging and boost self-esteem during times of transition. With a referral from a social agency, families can schedule an appointment with a personal shopper, allowing each child to select up to five new outfits per season, along with items like books and other essentials.
Serving Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, Lawrence, Lewis, and Morgan Counties, the boutique is more than a clothing resource — it’s a place of encouragement and support for children when they need it most.

As the leaves start to turn and the air gets a little crisp, it’s the perfect season to fall in love with a good book… and maybe a great movie too! The Carter County Public Library invites you to their Olive Hill branch for a special Movie Night, Thursday, September 19th at 6:30pm.
They’ll be showing a movie that’s based on a beloved book — so you’ll see the story you know and love come alive on the big screen. You’ll also get to enjoy free snacks, and even take home a treat bag while supplies last.
It’s the perfect chance to bring the whole family out for a cozy evening together — surrounded by friends, neighbors, and the magic of storytelling.
Again, that’s Thursday, September 19th at 6:30pm at the Olive Hill branch of the Carter County Public Library on Comet Drive. Come for the movie, stay for the memories… and rediscover the joy of falling in love with a good book.

Grab your rods and reels — another Grayson Lake Bait Store Tournament is set for Saturday, September 27th. The competition will launch from the main ramp at safe light and run until 3 p.m.
The entry fee is $50 per boat, with two anglers per boat allowed. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers plus biggest fish of the day. Based on 20 boats, first place would take home $400, second $300, third $200, and Big Fish pays $100.
It’s a five-fish limit tournament, with only three “unders” counting toward the total. Largemouth and spotted bass between 12 and 15 inches fall under the slot rule. Dead fish carry a half-pound penalty and won’t be eligible for the Big Fish prize. And remember — no live bait is permitted.
Whether you’re fishing for fun or aiming for that big payday, it’s sure to be a lively day on the water.

The Carter County Clean-Up campaign continues this week, with crews operating on the West end of the county. Dumpsters will be available for public use at the county maintenance garage along US 60, and clean-up personnel will be on hand to help unload items each day from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, today through Friday.
As a reminder, the list of items not accepted has been updated. Crews will not collect refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, or batteries. And all materials brought to the site must be bagged or boxed — no loose items will be accepted. The County Clean-Up runs on a rotating schedule, alternating between the East and West ends of Carter County every two weeks. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the Grayson maintenance garage along US 60 from September 10th through the 12th.
This valuable community service is made possible by the Carter County Solid Waste Department, who continue to support these efforts to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful.
Again, dumpsters are open today through Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at the West end site in Olive Hill.
