If you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to hit the links while supporting a couple of great causes in our community, registration is now open for the 2026 Grayson Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble.
This year’s scramble is set for Friday, October 2nd, at Hidden Cove Golf Course at Grayson Lake State Resort Park. And this isn’t just a day of golf. Organizers are putting together an event that combines some friendly competition with an opportunity to make a difference for families affected by DIPG, a terminal pediatric brain cancer.
The event will feature a 10-thousand-dollar hole-in-one contest, along with other activities and opportunities throughout the day. But perhaps most importantly, proceeds from the golf scramble will benefit the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce and OzzyFest.
OzzyFest is an event dedicated to raising awareness and supporting families affected by DIPG, while celebrating the real-life super heroes who have been touched by the disease.
So whether you’re a serious golfer, someone who simply enjoys getting out on the course with friends, or a local business looking for a fun way to get involved, this is an opportunity to put together a team, enjoy a day at Hidden Cove, and support an important cause at the same time.
And if you’re thinking about playing, now is the time to get registered. Registration is officially open for the 2026 Grayson Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble. The event will be held October 2nd at Hidden Cove Golf Course at Grayson Lake State Resort Park. You can find the registration information online at grayson-area-chamber-of-commerce-golf-scramble.perfectgolfevent.com.
We’ll also remind you that proceeds will go toward the Grayson Chamber of Commerce and OzzyFest, helping raise awareness and support for families affected by DIPG.
So grab your clubs, get your team together, and mark October 2nd on your calendar. It’s a day on the golf course, a chance to compete for some great prizes, including that 10-thousand-dollar hole-in-one opportunity, and most importantly, a chance to support families and a cause right here in our community. Registration is open now, so don’t wait to get your team signed up.

City of Grayson Emergency Management is working to establish a new public safety program in our area. To ensure your loved one is safe, the City of Grayson is utilizing an automated check-in service called ConfirmOK to support older residents, ages 55 and up, living by themselves. Automated alerts will allow first responders to be dispatched and assure help arrives quickly during an emergency. Grayson EM will begin a pilot program for twelve residents who live within the city limits.
Grayson City residents will sign up to receive a phone call at a time convenient for them Monday through Friday. When the phone number, 606-331-5016, comes across the phone, the resident will pick up the phone and press 1. This will notify ConfirmOK that the person is okay. If the call is not accepted then the automated system will retry two more times. If no one answers, Dispatch will be notified so an officer from the Grayson Police Department can check on the person.
Unfortunately, four people have been found deceased in Grayson through August. We don’t want another statistic. If responders believe a medical emergency is happening and the resident cannot answer the phone, the person may be found sooner.
Applications may be picked up at Walgreens, Horton Brothers & Brown, Med- Save, or Primary Plus. City EM will be the lead in this program. You may drop your form off at the Grayson City Building or Grayson Fire Department. If you need help in filling out the form, City Emergency Management will be glad to come to your home and fill out the application with you. For questions, call 606-315-4119.

The Carter County Clean-Up campaign continues this week, with crews operating on the East end of the county. Dumpsters will be available for public use at the county maintenance garage located in Grayson, and clean-up personnel will be on hand to help unload items each day from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, today through Friday.
As a reminder, the list of items not accepted has been updated. Crews will not collect refrigerators, deep freezers, televisions, household garbage, paint, tires, or batteries. And all materials brought to the site must be bagged or boxed — no loose items will be accepted. The County Clean-Up runs on a rotating schedule, alternating between the East and West ends of Carter County every two weeks. After this week’s collection, dumpsters are scheduled to return to the maintenance garage located along US 60 from October 7th through the 9th.
This valuable community service is made possible by the Carter County Solid Waste Department, who continue to support these efforts to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful. Again, dumpsters are open today through Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at the West end site in Olive Hill.
