Ada Fay Blankenship Claxon, age 97, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Vanceburg Hill in Vanceburg, Kentucky.
She was born October 8, 1928, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James and Mae McVaney Blankenship.
Ada enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was well known for baking cream pies for over 40 years for Kenny’s Restaurant. Even in her nineties, she was baking pies for the Carter House. As much as she enjoyed baking the pies, she loved socializing with customers more. She was a fixture of both Kenny’s Restaurant and the Carter House.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Clarence Claxon; one brother, Ralph Blankenship and one sister, Beulah Bellamy.
Ada is survived by one son, Kenneth (Jackie) Claxon of Vanceburg, Kentucky; one daughter, Shirley (Cary) Cagle of Vanceburg, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Roger (Erica) King, Robert (Cindy) King, Rachelle King, Kent (Amanda) Claxon; seven great-grandchildren, Rowdy (Racey) King, Ryston (Maddie) King, Travis King, Tyler King, Tiana King, Colby Claxon, John Ross Claxon; four great-great-grandchildren, Ryland King Renleigh King, Hayden King and Racelynn King, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Brother Bob Sweeney officiating. Burial will follow in Black Oak Cemetery in Lewis County.
Friends may visit after 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2026, until the service hour at Dickerson Funeral Home.
