Amy Louise Adkins Lewis Age 87, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away after a long illness on June 13, 2026, at Kings Daughter’s Hospital, in Ashland, Kentucky.
She was born October 23, 1938, in Load, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Joseph Newton Adkins and Edna Virginia Osborn Adkins.
She married her sweetheart, James Ogden Lewis on August 6, 1957. She and her husband were members of Carter Christian Church, where they enjoyed their church family and fellowship. Louise was also a member of the First Families of Kentucky and the Daughters of the American Revolution historical societies. In her free time, Louise enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and playing games. Louise was especially devoted to her family.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her sister Darlene McGlone and two brothers, Glenn and Wade Adkins.
Louise is survived by her husband, two daughters Jamie Ellen Lewis (Charles) Burroughs of Nashville, Tennessee and Jacqueline Anne Lewis (Charles Phillips) of Lexington, Kentucky, a son Miles Steven (Carol) Lewis of Ashland, Kentucky, granddaughter Whitney Michelle (Shane) Blackburn, and great grandson, Adler Blackburn. Her sisters Esther Denny and Janet Ward of Ashland, Kentucky, brothers Joseph (Lois) Adkins of Chillicothe, Ohio, Steve (Dorothy) Adkins of Grayson, Kentucky, Morgan Adkins of Greenup, Kentucky, and sister-in-law, Lyndon Adkins of Carter County, Kentucky. Also, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family wishes to thank all those who provided excellent care, compassion and friendship to Louise over the years. Louise will be remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Please join us for a celebration in honor of Louise’s life.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Carter Christian Church, Carter City, Kentucky, with Brother Terrell Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery in Lewis County, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m., until 8 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2026, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix, Kentucky and after 10 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026, until the service hour at Carter Christian Church.
Mark Horsley, Brian Horsley, Greg Stambaugh, Glenn Adkins, Charles Phillips and James Adkins will serve as pallbearers.
