Barbara Sue Pennington Caudill, 71, of Florida, went to be with her Lord on March 18, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. Barbara was born on January 23, 1955, in Ashland, Kentucky, to the late Allen Jean Pennington and Myrtle Frances Coomer McGuire. She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Peggy Edmonds, Debra Hayes, and Glenna Pennington Hale. Barbara lived a life centered on caring for others. Nursing was not just her job—it was her passion and her purpose. She worked her way up to become a Director of Nursing, dedicating countless years to the profession she loved. Through her work, she formed lifelong friendships and earned the respect of everyone around her. She was known for her compassion, her strength, and the way she treated every patient like family. Helping people wasn’t just what she did—it was who she was. Outside of her career, Barbara was known for the simple joys that made her home feel warm and welcoming. She made the best banana pudding and homemade fudge, treats her family will always remember and miss. She also rarely went without a cup of coffee in hand, happily enjoying it throughout the day while talking, laughing, and spending time with the people she loved. As much as she loved her career, nothing meant more to Barbara than her children and grandchildren. They were her greatest pride and her greatest joy. She loved fiercely, supported endlessly, and made sure her family always knew they were her whole world. She is survived by her two loving children, Nikki McCormick and James Caudill, both of Florida; her cherished grandchildren, Leah Boyles, Carey Casaus, Jayden Caudill, Liam Caudill, and Brody Caudill; and her adored great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Isaiah Casaus, and Lovelynn and Lennon Boyles. She also leaves behind her sister, Linda Hodge; her brothers, Allen Jean Pennington Jr. and Harlan Edward Pennington; and many dear friends who became like family over the years. Barbara’s faith guided her throughout her life and gave her strength through every season. Her family finds peace in knowing she is now resting in the presence of the Lord she loved so much.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, Kentucky, with burial to follow at East Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Barbara will be remembered for her kind heart, her strong spirit, her dedication to nursing, and the deep love she had for her family. The memories of her laughter, her cooking, and the comfort she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
From her grandchildren: We will always remember the way you took care of everyone, the smell of your kitchen when you were making banana pudding or fudge, and the way there was always a fresh cup of coffee nearby. Thank you for loving us the way you did. We will carry your love with us for the rest of our lives.
