It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn “Kay” Carroll Sexton, 75, of Ashland, KY, who departed this life on Monday, June 15, 2026, at UK King’s Daughters Medical Center. Born on July 26, 1950, in Grayson, KY, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter Carroll Jr. and Maxine Shears Carroll.
Kay was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Robert Franklin Sexton, Sr., and their two sons, Robert Franklin Sexton, Jr. and Michael Shawn Sexton. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Carroll, and sister, Betty Gillam.
A talented beautician, Kay owned and operated “Kay’s Hair Corner,” where her passion for hairstyling brought joy to countless clients throughout her career. Her sunny disposition and infectious laughter made her a delight to be around, and she had a knack for turning any gathering into a joyful occasion.
In her leisure time, Kay loved to travel, enjoy the thrill of playing slots, attending auctions, always seeking out treasures and new adventures.
Kay leaves behind a close-knit family, including her brother, Rick (Barb) Carroll of Grayson, KY, her sister, Janet Whitt of Sandy Hook, KY, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply mourn her passing but cherish the wonderful memories they created with her.
Kay will be dearly missed but remembered forever for her warmth, laughter, and the love she shared with those around her.
A time of gathering will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM (Noon) on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Malone Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.malonefuneralhome.com
