Charles O. Rogers, 78, of Grayson, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life to be with his Lord on December 4, 2025, at Trinity Station in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Born on June 12, 1947, in Carter County, Kentucky, he was the beloved son of the late Chester and Geneva Rogers. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his cherished brother, Chester “Dean” Rogers, and his brother-in-law, Walter “Watt” Sammons.
A devout Christian, Charles was a dedicated member of the Fellowship Christian Baptist Church, where his faith was evident in all aspects of his life. He exemplified a strong work ethic, dedicating 39 years of service as a welder at AK Steel before retiring. Music was a lifelong passion for Charles; he adored singing for the Lord and was a proud member of the Rogers Family Quartet. Also, a talented harmonica player, his music resonated deeply, bringing joy to many. Charles served his country honorably in the Kentucky Army National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to service and community.
Above all, Charles cherished his family. He loved spending time camping and creating lasting memories with loved ones. He is survived by his son, Chad (Anna) Rogers of Ashland, Kentucky; his daughter, Tracy Thornton of Alexandria, Virginia; and four grandchildren: Miranda (Rob) Weidner, Russell Rogers, Tucker Rogers, and Madigan Thornton. Charles also leaves behind three sisters, Charlene Sammons, Sue (Jack) Grizzell, and June (Darrell) Tolliver, all of Grayson, Kentucky, and two brothers, Clyde (Nina) Rogers and Mike (Gayle) Rogers, both of Grayson. He will be deeply missed by his extended family and countless friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Bro. Jack Grizzell and Family officiating. Burial will follow at East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation from 11:00 AM until the service hour on Wednesday.
