Clayton Marshall, 93, of Grayson, KY, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 11, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of his home and the love of his family. Born on October 22, 1932, in Beetle, KY, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Ethel Salyers Marshall.
Clayton lived a life defined by hard work, faith, kindness, and devotion to the people he loved. He began his working years at Dayton Rubber before later retiring from Hitchins General Refractory. After retirement, he fulfilled the dream that had always been close to his heart – farming the land he loved and returning to his childhood home. There, he found joy in simple things, family gatherings, and sharing stories, wisdom, and laughter with those around him. He especially treasured the friendship and advice of Lloyd Flaugher through the years.
More than anything, Clayton was a faithful Christian man. For 56 years, he was a devoted member of Mt. Chapel United Baptist Church, faithfully serving as church clerk for 46 of those years. His faith was not only something he spoke about, but something he lived every single day. Whether through a helping hand, a warm smile, or a heartfelt prayer, Clayton touched countless lives. He was the kind of man who made people feel loved, welcomed, and safe. To many, he was the heart of both his church and community.
He was reunited in Heaven with the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Nancy Bea Marshall; his parents; three sisters, Clara Pennington, Ruby Justice, and Mary Kitchen; two brothers, Lonnie Marshall and Ishmel Marshall; a son, John Dewayne Marshall; and a granddaughter, Stacy Sloas Kiser.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Clayton “Whitey” (Kay) Marshall Jr. of Grayson; daughters, Linda Sloas of Grayson and Brenda (Ishmel “Bill”) Kelley of Grayson; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Marshall of Grayson; and sister, Jean Adams of Dayton, OH.
He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Terry (Joy) Marshall, Jack (Amanda) Marshall, Jeremy (Jeanie) Sloas, Amber Kelley, Brandon Kelley and Tia Via, Jessica (Graham) Johnston, and Carley (Chase) Webb; along with seventeen great-grandchildren, eighteen great-great-grandchildren, and one precious great-great-grandchild on the way.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 15th 2026, at Mt. Chapel United Baptist Church with Bro. A.J. Williamson, Bro. Lewis Baier, and Bro. Ike Flaugher officiating. Burial will follow at the Marshall Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at Malone Funeral Home and after 11:00a.m. Friday at Mt. Chapel United Baptist Church.
