Connie Frances Stanfield Denton, age 86, of Maysville, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Her faithfulness to her family and her church will be greatly missed. No doubt she was born to serve as she blessed so many with her cooking. She served many roles at Petersville Church of God for over 50 years. She has served as a song leader and piano player and most recently as treasurer and board member. She was retired from U.S. Shoe Corporation in Flemingsburg, Kentucky where she worked for twenty-six years. She worked alongside her sister in her grocery store/restaurant as well. She was the wife of the late Bill Denton for twenty-five years.
She was born May 18, 1938 in Mason County, Kentucky a daughter of the late Worth and Rena Hampton Stanfield.
Connie is survived by her two children, Wendell (Lana) Applegate of Tollesboro, Kentucky and Rena (Matthew) Bickley of Maysville, Kentucky; two step children, Lisa Monteith and Kelly Denton both of Tollesboro, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Denny (Andrea) Applegate of Foster, Kentucky, B.J. (Sarah) Applegate of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Julie (Corey) Doyle of Flemingsburg, Kentucky and Seth (Jaycey) Bickley of Maysville, Kentucky; step grandchildren, Jeremy Denton of Maysville, Kentucky, Scott (Stacey) Lewis, Robbie (Lisa) Lewis, Chris Lewis, Lindsay Huber and Wesley Huber of Tollesboro, Kentucky all of Tollesboro, Kentucky. She was blessed with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and one great great grandchild; two sisters, Phyllis Garrison and Joyce (John) Summerfield, both of Maysville, Kentucky; one brother, Milt (Phyllis) Stanfield of Tollesboro, Kentucky.
Besides her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth Hurst of Muses Mills and Linda O’Dell of Vanceburg and an infant brother Worth Jr. Also a great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m, Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Petersville Church of God in Petersville, Kentucky, with Brother and Pastor Milt Stanfield officiating. Burial will follow in Canaan Cemetery in Tollesboro, Kentucky
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Tollesboro Funeral Home, 11918 KY 57, Tollesboro, Kentucky and after 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025 until the service hour at Petersville Church of God.
Denny Applegate, B.J. Applegate, Corey Doyle, Seth Bickley, Logan Applegate and Grant Applegate will serve as pallbearers.
Dennis Truesdell will serve as honorary pallbearer.
