David (Shorty) Henderson, age 71, of Tollesboro, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sunday, November 21, 1954, in Mason County, Kentucky, a son of the late Delbert Eugene and Ethel Mason Henderson.
Shorty was a member of Hickory Grove Christian Holiness Church, and retired from Browning Manufacturing will almost 40 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, riding his golf cart, talking with his neighbors and spending time with his family, especially his grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Henderson.
Shorty is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Debra Gilbert Henderson; one daughter, Jessica Howard of Tar Fork, Kentucky; one grandson, Carson Howard; one brother, Johnny (Betty Jo) Henderson of Tollesboro, Kentucky; one sister, Rosetta Cooper of Vanceburg, Kentucky; special friend, David Lee of Vanceburg, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Tollesboro Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 11918 Ky 57, Tollesboro, Kentucky, with Brother David Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow in East Fork Cemetery in Lewis County, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m., until 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and after 9 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026, until the service hour at Tollesboro Funeral Home.
