Donna Sue Henderson Dunaway, age 80, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 25, 1945, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Albert Leroy and Anna Fay Burton Henderson.
Sue was a member of First Baptist Church in Vanceburg, Kentucky, and loved going to church. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she adored. And, her most cherished title was Mim. She taught Kindergarten for 27 years at Lewis County Central Elementary. She instilled a love of learning and compassion in the hundreds of students who entered her classroom over these many years.
She is survived by three children, Denise Dunaway of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Kelly (Tammy) Alburg of Mayslick, Kentucky, Chris (Deah) Dunaway of Maysville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Bo (Tiffany), Liz (Dustin), Tyler, Kelsey (Matt), Noah (Allison), Tanner, Grant; seven great-grandchildren, Layla, Amry, Abram, Emmy, Indy, Claire and Mattie; one brother, Jack (Debbie) Henderson of Nevada; one sister, Fonda Esham of Vanceburg, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Graveside services will be held, 1 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Lewis County Memory Gardens, Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Dr. Howard Wilson and Brother Kevin Cornette officiating.
Tyler Leming, Noah Dunaway, Grant Dunaway, Tanner Alburg, Dustin Czirr and Troy Leming will serve as pallbearers.
Bo and Abram Markins and Danny Hronek will serve as honorary pallbearers.
