Edna Phillips Fuson, 89, of Delta, AL, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA. Born on December 28, 1935, in Grayson, KY, she was the cherished daughter of the late William and Edna Jacobs Phillips. Edna’s life was marked by her unwavering faith, dedication to her profession, and deep love for her family.
Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Vernon Ray Fuson, whose memory she carried in her heart every day. She was also preceded by her brothers, Bill Phillips and Jim Phillips, who both played significant roles in her life.
A proud graduate of the University of Louisville, Edna earned her Doctorate in Medicine and went on to establish a successful private practice. Her commitment to serving others extended beyond her practice as she also contributed her expertise to the U.S. Department of Defense, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of many.
Edna is survived by her two sisters-in-law, Freda Phillips of Venice, FL and Deanna Phillips, of Grayson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who will remember her for her kindness, wisdom, and infectious laughter.
A graveside service will be 11 am Friday, November 7, 2025 the East Carter County Memory Gardens, with Bro. Jeff Cline officiating. Edna will be laid to rest among the beauty of nature she so loved. Malone funeral home is both honored and privileged to handle the services for Mrs. Edna Fuson.
