Edwin Dwight Rouse, age 84, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Southern Ohio Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio, after a long illness with his wife and daughter at his side. Dwight was born January 20, 1942, a son of the late Paul Justin and Lillian Thurman Rouse. He was a member of Heselton Baptist Church.
Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sandra Tolle Rouse, one daughter, Denise (Brian) Reed of Minford, Ohio; one son, Kelly Rouse; step-son, John Applegate of Vanceburg, Kentucky; one sister, Ruth Brewer of Vanceburg, Kentucky; grandchildren, Brianna Rouse, Payton Blankenbeckley, Madison Reed, Julia Applegate, Abagail Fairchild, James Applegate, Addison Applegate, Chase Reed; two sisters-in-law, Janice Burriss of Vanceburg, Kentucky and Norma Hackworth of Tollesboro, Kentucky; one brother-in-law Donald Evans of Bucyrus, Ohio, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Rouse and Chester Rouse; sister-in-law, Linda Evans; brothers-in-law, Robert Brewer, Bill Hackworth and Dallas Burriss.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Pastor Kent Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Black Oak Cemetery in Lewis County.
Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2026, until the service hour at Dickerson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Oho Hospice Center in Portsmouth in Dwight’s memory.
