Floyd Gilbert
October 25, 1927 – June 1, 2025
Floyd “Windy” Gilbert, 97, of Grayson, Kentucky went to be with his Lord on June 1, 2025. Floyd was born October 25, 1927, in Siloam, Kentucky to the late Floyd David and Edith Smith Gilbert. Floyd was preceded in death by a son, Mark Anthony Gilbert; two brothers, Carroll Gilbert and Roy Gilbert; three sisters, Carmen Sanford, Delores Scott and Helen Ruth Gilbert.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Helen Louise Claxon Gilbert, daughter Mary Gilbert, son Michael David (Michelle) Gilbert; brother Donald Gilbert; sisters-in-law Shelby Gilbert, Cleo Claxon, Helen M. Claxon; brother-in-law David Claxon; and two very good friends considered family, Bob and Linda Montgomery. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Floyd served his country as an Army veteran of WWII. He retired from CSX with 38 years of service. Floyd was a member of Crane Creek Baptist Church for several years and is currently a member of Barretts Creek Baptist Church. Floyd and Helen served for ten years in working with the Baptist Disaster Relief. Floyd also enjoyed fishing, trap shooting, working on the farm and was always known with a friendly smile.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Malone Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Riffe officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith-Claxon cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, and on Wednesday after 11:00 AM until the service hour.
