Gary Forrest Stamper, 76, of Grayson, KY, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 29, 1949, in Ashland, KY, he was the cherished son of the late Alvin J. “Preacher” and Eileen Forrest Stamper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Larry Stamper.
A devoted member of Dixie Park Freewill Baptist Church, Gary lived a life grounded in faith, love, and family. He had an unwavering passion for sports, particularly UK Basketball, and embraced the tranquility of nature with his love for fishing for largemouth bass, a hobby that brought him great joy until his health no longer permitted.
Professionally, Gary served as a medical equipment driver for Prestige Medical, where his caring nature and dedication touched many lives. He leaves behind a legacy of love represented by his wife of 48 years, Roberta Kay Stamper; their three daughters, Melissa Sue (Johnny) Wilson, Mary Beth (Jason) Carter, and Melinda Dawn (Jerry) Gee, all of Grayson. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Lakin, Kaylee, and Averi Wilson; Chase and Claire Carter; Aden Porter; and Xander Walker. In addition, he will be remembered by his great-grandson, River Blackburn, and a great-granddaughter on the way.
Gary is also survived by his nephew, Brian Stamper, along with a host of extended family and friends, all of whom will deeply mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Bro. Scott Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Adkins Cemetery off Everman’s Creek. Visitation will begin at 11 AM on the same day until the hour of the service.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Johnny Wilson, Jason Carter, Jerry Gee, Chase Carter, Aden Porter, and William Gee.
