Gordon Douglas Kouns
1943-2025
Doug Kouns, 81, of Iron Hill, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Concord Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg, OH. He was born June 19, 1943, in Reedville, KY, the son of the late Coy and Kathleen Burton Kouns. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Ella Nora Kouns, Phyllis Flaugher, and Kay Kouns Keyes; a son-in-law, Michael McDowell; and a grandson, Matthew McDowell.
Doug was of the Christian faith and attended the Iron Hill Christian Church. He proudly served his Country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW, Willard, KY, the Moose in Portsmouth, OH, and was Past President of the Eagles in New Boston, OH. Doug had worked for Pepsi-Cola for many years as a truck driver.
He is survived by two sons, Coy (Lindsey) Kouns of Nicholasville, KY; Aaron (Keri) Kouns of Franklin Furnace, OH; two daughters, Miki (Donna) Kouns of Georgetown, KY; Missie McDowell of Nicholasville, KY; a brother, Perry (Donna) Kouns of Grayson, KY; a sister, Susie Kouns of Hitchins, KY; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Sparks Funeral Home, Steven Keyes, minister. Burial will follow in the Kouns Family Cemetery with Military Honors by the Kenova American Legion Post 93, Kenova, WV.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 23, from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
